triple boot EEEpc 1000HE
« on: April 12, 2009, 07:56:04 PM »
Hey, I'm trying to get a Triple boot of Osx iDeneb 10.5.5, Linux easy peasy and Xp working on my EEEpc 1000HE, I have installed all separately so I know everything works my question is:

Would Chameleon be a good solution for a boot loader and how would it work, ??? ???

Would Linux still need to be the first partition,

What order would i need to install the Os's

What about boot flags,

Does Chamelon boot directly to linux or does it lead you to Grub, (same question for xp and osx)

Any Tips advice or links to guides would be great,

Cheers,
Bert,

My be this helps...

Here my configuration on a MSI Wind U100...

Partition 1 - Windows XP installed by the Recover CD
Partition 2 - Mac OSX 10.5.6 installed first on a external USB and copied with Carbon Copy Cloner
Partition 3 - Ubuntu 8.10 installed with a Live CD
Partition 4 - Across partition for Data (Fat32)

At Windows XP installation I used 1 Partition.
After installed Windows XP I booted from Ubuntu Live CD, resized partition 1 and created the new Partitions
 - Partition 2 ext2
 - Partition 3 ext3
 - Partition 4 fat32

Before coping Mac OS X with Carbon Copy Cloner used diskutil to formating partition 2

At Ubuntu installation be shure...

 - Partition 3 MountPoint /
 - Partition 4 MountPoint /media/Across
 - Install GRUB on the Partition - NOT on the MBR

After Reboot Cameleon 2.0 detected all Operating Systems.

Excuse my english may be bad.

Greeting from germany

Thank you so much, you are an absolute legend, i couldn't have asked for more,

when did you install Chameleon, after the osx install?

have you ever tried windows 7, i was tempted but thought i might leave it till its out of beta,

i was going to install osx from a usb rather than restore an image,

thanks again,

smallmac,

would you be able to tell me if your method works with the following setup:

Recovery Partition
Windows XP
OSX
Backup
Windows 7
Data

I have a Samsung NC10 which is a bit like a MSI Wind.

I installed Chameleon on a USB Stick to test the boot up before I do it on the main OSX Partition, I get th following error message:

On XP I get:
Code: [Select]
Invalid BOOT.INI file
Booting from C:\Windows\
NTDETECT Failed

On Windows 7 I get a flashing cursor.

I am currently using EasyBCD for Windows 7 to boot and that allows me to boot XP & OSX. I would love to use this new loader as it is loads better than the text version.

Do you think I have my set up wrong? would it be best to start again?

Thank you for your time

All the best
