Stretched bootscreen fix
« on: February 14, 2010, 02:47:07 PM »
Hi. I dont find any fixes for this problem and decided to write here, maybe you can fix horizontal stretched apple logo on widescreen resolutions?
I tryed to use bootflags and there is "Graphics Mode"="1680x1050x32@60" on my boot.plist.
I tried 1440x900 also and 1280x1024 seems that my monitor (samsung t220) is not reacting...
Also tried to switch between Wide and Auto modes in monitor's settings menu.
And tried this http://namedfork.net/bootxchanger but dunno why) anyway doesnt matters, this software didnt works on my Snow Leo 10.6.2 @ boot_RC4_Duvelv2.1_Rekursor

Moderator Edit: I have moved this here as it's not really a feature request

Your link to post is about bootloaders screen, and I mean a grey apple's bootscreen.
Thanks.

Okay, but the stretched Apple logo is down to a resolution problem which you should be able to fix. Do the themes also look squashed?

Yes, themes was also squashed.
Now the problem becomes more deep. I'm listed VESA modes in gui loader and realized that there is only 1680x1050x8. I entered this mode in my boot.plist. Result - yes, apple logo is now very beautiful BUT the chameleon's gui doesn't appears (blank white screen instead of it) and the spinning wheel moved to the left corner of the screen and looks twisted. I don't used gui before but spinning wheel kills me...
Please, help.

What resolutions are 32bit in the Chameleon's video info list? As I think you are going to have to stick with one of those.

On the photo, excluding 640x480x8 and 640x400x8 that was also in list.
When I use 1280x1024x32 screen is also stretched. Switch between "wide" and "auto" in monitor settings is always set to "auto" of course.
I'm confused about my vesa list. Where it is placed? Can it be edited?

The list of VESA modes is pulled from your video card ROM. Available modes seem to depend on which type of display is connected as well (VGA or DVI).

Is there a difference on what DVI of two is connected to monitor's input? My 8800 has 2 DVI outs, ones that closer to motherboard is connected to 22" and other is connected to a 15" via DVI-VGA converter.

You can easily check this yourself - try booting up with only one display connected and then check the list of VESA resolutions from the Chameleon GUI.  Repeat, with only the other one connected.

Available modes top out at 1280x1024 because that's the native res of my display.
