Few questions - About own created theme
« on: February 27, 2010, 05:33:06 PM »
Hi,

I'm creating a Chameleon bootloader theme for a Dutch Hackint0sh Community. But i have a few questions.

1. Shall I create for every resolution a new theme? I am now busy with an 1920x1200 version...
2. Now the background starts in the middle of the screen. How can i fix that?
Thanks :).

Mick

Hi Mick

Ultimately you'll want the theme for your resolution but the best way is to create the theme at the highest resolution possible and if a background is being used then one to cover each ratio (16:10, 16:9 and 4:3). It will then be up to the final user of the theme to resize it to fit their display.

Setting the background_pos_x and background_pos_y key/strings to 0, in the theme.plist, will position the background at the top left hand corner.

Should I make 3 backgrounds? For each aspect ratio? Or I understand it wrong..
Sorry, i'm not very good in English ;).

Edit:
That pos_x I had... But it dont works.. My plist file.

It really depends on the background image and the relationship of the position of the devices etc.  If the background is just a texture and it doesn't matter if it's stretched to fit the screen then you can supply just the one background. But if the background contains for example, a picture, text or maybe a placeholder for the device images and if stretched will look incorrect then yes, three background images would be the preferred option.

It's not essential you do this, but if you want others to be able to use your theme with the least hassle then it's best you make it user friendly.

Thanks :). But what is fault with my theme.plist?

I have made it in Windows (**shame**). In Dreamweaver. Could that be the problem? I'm now in Mac. How should I save it?

You say you made it in windows.  Do you mean the plist as well as the art?  If you do, did you run dos2unix on it to fix the line endings?
