10.6.3 Update
« on: March 29, 2010, 07:18:58 PM »
Just thought I'd create the topic before everyone jumps in and starts asking questions.  I have not yet updated (working from home today, and actually need my hackintosh working).

Thanks for the heads up Terc. I'll edit this post when I'm done updating..

10.6.3 Combo Update: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1017

Detailed what's new in 10.6.3: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4014

/EDIT

It's working fine so far, except the new AppleHDA crippled my AD2000B sound.
Back up your AppleHDA.kext before updating, just in case.
OpenGL got a nice performance boost. Check w/ OpenGL Extensions Viewer.

10.6.3 update requires either a binpatched kernel or the Chameleon fork from NetBookInstaller to run on Atom processors. Additionally, the new version of AppleIntegratedFramebuffer is causing wake from sleep issues on many netbooks (black screen, and strangely a non-functional trackpad). Reverting to version 1.6.6 from 10.6.2 fixes this.

Any chance at all we could not only see an update to Chameleon, one that adds 1024x600 video and Atom support for netbooks, ala NetBookInstaller's fork?

After a month or more of hiatus i fired up the hack yesterday, no 10.6.3 surprises whatsoever.

Before everyone starts asking about the nasty ALC1200 sound chip, a friendly reminder: guys I don't use it, all sound comes form either an iMic or a MOTU firewire sound module.

bozon42, the quote tags are there for wrapping logs/output, without them threads get super-ugly in an instant. OT havoc moved to BlackHole.
