[Solved] Displays Resolutions with GraphicsEnbler=Yes
« on: April 04, 2010, 06:50:23 PM »
I have an MSI NVIDIA 8400 GS 256 MB and I can only get 1024x768 in the displays resolution in the control Panel on 10.5.8.  Am I supposed to get more or have to specify the resolution in my com.apple.Boot.plist.  I have done a lot of searching and tried nvinject, nvenabler 64 in my S/L/E folder without Graphicsenabler in the com.apple.Boot.plist.  Nothing seems to give me more display resolutions.

The resolution specified in Boot.plist is only for booting.

If you can't get hardware acceleration working (this will in turn let you pick a higher resolution once OS X is up and running) no matter what injection method you use, you probably have to add your video card's device ID to the appropriate Nvidia kernel extensions.
Google "Krazubu guide for all Nvidia boards", that should take you right to a post on the ProjectOSX forums with more details about how to do this.

I found my issue.  Originally I was unable to change the resolution without the screen going completely blue.  So what I did was delete anything with NV* from my extension directory which got rid of all NVD* extension, these extensions are needed.   I thought only the injector was needed, as I was trying a new injector.  I followed both recommendation and now have my screen back up and working with resolutions.  EFI, NVIDIA INJECTOR and GraphicsEnbler all works once the files where back in place.  Hope this can help someone else who might get themselves in this situation.  The "Krazubu guide for all Nvidia boards" and a link in it "Recover a bricked setup after GFX installation, When GFX support goes worng" where what showed me how to get the files back in place.  Thanks for all the help.
