Launching Chameleon from BCD
« on: May 17, 2010, 05:46:44 AM »
I have to boot from a Win7 drive using the standard Vista/Win7/2008 bcd loader.

Disk Setup:
Win7 disk - NTFS - 100 GB SSD
SL 10.6.1 - OSX Journaled - 120 GB SSD

OS X uses Chameleon to boot - all boot files are on the disk containing 10.6, standard folders used
Win7 can boot from Chameleon but doesn't pass "Genuine Windows" test once it's HD is not the first one in BIOS boot sequence.
Can you please help me understand what do I need to reference in BCD configuration file: "boot", "boot0"..?

You need chain0, EasyBCD can install it for you when you add a Mac OS X MBR entry. Also make sure that your GPT HFS partition is synced into the MBR table as well.

Zef,

Thank you very much for the prompt response!
I've made a major mess with EasyBCD before - had to reinstall entire system after - so I would appreciate if you could clarify a couple of points for me.

1. Which version of EasyBCD I should use considering that SL is on another physical hard drive? (I guess it would be 2.0 Beta)
2. Is 'chain0' already installed on SL hard drive when I installed Chameleon 2 there?
3. "...GPT HFS partition is synced into the MBR table.." could you please clarify what this means and how I can do it?

Kind regards,
Miko
