P55 + XP32 - can't boot (AHCI issue?)
« on: May 19, 2010, 02:59:05 PM »
Using Chameleon to dual boot into OSX SL and Win XP 32.  Do not have floppy drive so can't load AHCI drivers upon XP install, so changed bios to ide for XP install.  Now want to load AHCI drivers for my Gigabyte P55M-UD2 board, but I'm not clear on how to do this.  I've seen tutorials for older boards but it doesn't appear the P55 board has the same I/O controllers and I'm stumped.  Anyone have some hints?

Thanks,
Jim

This is a Windows issue and has nothing to do with the Chameleon bootloader.

P55 boards use the ICH10 or ICH10R Southbridge, if you want to switch XP to AHCI mode, just follow the first tutorial you can find with google, they're pretty much the same. You can get the latest ICH10/ICH10R drivers from Intel.

Some models of the ICH10 cannot run in AHCI mode under XP unless you modify the driver .inf files by hand before installing them. There are tutorials available on how to do that as well.
