The values on smbios.plist patch what's shown on System Profiler and afaik they are only cosmetics.
Your best bet at this point is a patched kernel.
On smbios.plist, i'd say remove it for now and later add only the needed values. And be careful with cross posting... to answer your question on IM, values on smbios.plist ALWAYS override the default ones
Thanks for the info, ha ha you saw my IM topic, thats related yes but different software and hopefully gives different insight. I'm still a noob and did not know I should have my system set to systemtype 2 in boot.plist, so I'm glad I know that.
I have for force 32bit because my zydas usb wifi device is 32bit only driver. I also had a few other issues I wanted to iron out.
As for the smbios.plist. Its all superficial uh.. Damn then just to clarify a few things. Ive got a few ideas to solve this that I am wondering if they will work or not, besides using a different kernel.
1. Use a editable SMbios file for fsb fix. Like this
http://osx86.net/f36/anv-applesmbios-38-t3587/ANV 38 is from 10.5.7... Be best if I could find one for 10.6.2 but I think thats the newest out.
2. Try one of the old solutions.. Smbiosresolver or smbiosenabler or smbiosefi..
3. Maybe find a DSDT fix for this? Is that possible
I've read this:
http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php/topic,1146.msg4938.html#msg4938So I know the first 2 are outdated solution and if all they ever did was superficial fixes its pointless and my only real solution is the kernel or a locked 10.6.2 smbios.kext like I used to have in 10.5.4.
Why all those smbios fixes would be superficial eludes me, ANV and the rest cant be just superficial...
