Need help setting my resolution
« on: June 29, 2010, 04:55:22 AM »
My situation is a little different but it's similar enough that I figured I'd resurrect this topic.

Hi,

I'm using an ASUS 1005HAB and 10.6.4 which I got working with the newest NBI.
If I use r640 the boot logos look correct. If I upgrade Chameleon to r658 or r684 they get squished.
I've been using the /extra/themes/default for my default theme and it's been working fine until spect ratio and resolution being messed up. When it's booting with one of the newer boot files if I check the vesa modes during startup iI changed the boot file. I've also tried the Bullet theme which is doing the same thing with the new boot file. I'd like to use the r684 boot file because it has the hide Partition command enabled but not at the expense of the aspect ratio and resolution.    During chameleon startup VESA modes 101, 111, & 112 show as being 1024x600 with the r640 boot file but are shown as 640x480 with the r658 and r684 boot files  Could it have to do with my bios version? (v2.58)

Thanks,

Here's another wrinkle.  I just installed chameleon r640 to an external 1.5 TB WD Mybook USB Drive and then replaced the boot file with the r684 boot file.  When I start chameleon from there it starts up in 1024x600!  So what could it be about my internal system drive that makes it mess up the startup video modes that doesn't happen from an external drive?

Thanks

I've moved you here because:

a: you're using an Intel video card
b: I think your issue is related to confusion about where you store your resolution settings
c: The topic you posted in had two people discussing a 8800GTX bios issue that prevents them from using certain resolutions available to other 8xxx series video cards.
