Using Chameleon to fix JMicron problem, how?
« on: July 26, 2010, 01:18:52 PM »
Hi all,

Over the last month or so I've been looking into installing OS X on my PC, because I really want to be able to use Xcode to develop for iPhone. Please be aware that I know little to nothing about the hackintosh/osx86 scene, and wasn't even aware it was possible until I'd needed it!

The problem I'm facing is one you probably hear most days, that I'm using a jmicron controller and I get the dreaded boot.plist can't be found error. So I cannot even attempt to install Mac OS X. I haven't changed any other BIOS settings through fear of fubar'ing my PC, so perhaps there's something I left out. Any help would be appreciated, so far:

So far I have downloaded "Snow_Leopard_10.6.1-10.6.2_SSE2_SSE3_Intel_AMD_by_Hazard" and burned it to DVD, then I get this error. After doing some research I've found that Chameleon could be the answer to my prayers!

But, all I can find is that you can install Chameleon on your osx partition, does this mean after install? I need something for me to be able to run the DVD. Can I put this on a disk (the chameleon I downloaded wasn't an image...)

I appreciate I sound utterly helpless but that is through fear of the unknown and breaking something! Thank you for reading this and hopefully you'll be able to help!

According to the Hazard website, the DVD you have uses Chameleon 2.0 RC4.

You can, but it won't help. Chameleon cannot boot an install DVD that already has Chameleon on it.

We can't support hacked install DVDs here, there are too many unknowns. Retail only.

Ok thank you, so my DVD has chameleon on it which I've read can be used to fix the jmicron problem (looking at the list of things included on my dvd even one of them is called jmicron fix or something similar)

can you suggest where I could go from here?

The simplest solution would be to buy a SATA DVD drive and connect it to the Intel SATA controller on your motherboard.
