using chameleon with grub
« on: August 06, 2010, 05:13:50 PM »
hi. i know this works cause i've done it before.

i followed the quick tutorial on insanelymac about getting chameleon to take over from grub, but it's not working as it should. a few months back, i had tried running leopard on my laptop and i don't quite remember how i had done it, but i do remember that i was using chameleon with grub and that osx did boot.

now, i wanted to give osx another go, so i reinstalled it. when i tried booting again, i got the "Error loading booterX" message. then i remembered about chameleon, and reinstalled it using this method: dd boot1h to my osx partition and cp boot to the root of that same partition. problem is, now i get nothing at all from grub. using the commands "rootnoverify" and "chainload" just gives me a blinking cursor and nothing happens.

I had similar problem after switching to GPT, chainload (hd0)+1 works for me, but I have installed chameleon to bootsector as well (on second HDD).
