Invoke Chameleon holding "Alt" or "Win" key
« on: April 12, 2009, 09:34:39 AM »
On a real Mac, to invoke the EFI partition selector, we press the option key. It would be neat, if we could do the same for Chameleon. That is, do not show Chameleon by default (Quiet Boot), but only when the magic key is held down.

And since the "Win" key on PC keyboards is where the "Opt" key is on Mac keyboards, it would make life easier if both the "Win" and the "Alt" keys activated Chameleon.

As an extra bonus, one could fathom either of these keys together with "V" activating verbose and together with "S" activating single-user boot...

Just a thought.

Thanks

This sounds very cool!

I like the idea.  Unfortunately, boot loader level stuff is beyond my expertise.  Not sure how big of a feature request this is.  If it's not too much, I would love to see it added.

This is good request, let's hope that a 2.1 version if version 2 is not possible, with this feature.

? this feature already exists... if you have it set to quiet boot, you can press F8 to invoke the bootloader menu.

This F8-thing you claim to exist is only a small part of my feature request.

I don't "claim it exists" because it does, have you tried it?
Just hold down f8 after the bios post, but before the bootloader starts.
I wasn't trying to say your request was unnecessary, just thought you'd find this useful for the time being.

I apologize for my tone of voice, it could be taken as sounding offensive. It was not meant that way. Thanks for your hint.
