chameleon autoresolution not patching vesa mode
« on: October 25, 2010, 06:42:50 PM »
hi
im trying to get the native res 1600x900 on my dell xps 1647 ati 4670m to work.
i've tried almost every release of chameleon so far.
my last attempt was  this:
http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php/topic,1227.msg8543.html#msg8543
i think this build is based on autoresolution branch
this boot bersion shows a debug that im attaching.
from the debug i can tell that the bios is recognized, the edid is ok and native res is right. but i think the on the fly bios patching is wron since the max res after boot still 1152x864
in the debug i an see that the res patched in table #0 is 320x200 -> 320x900 wich sounds odd
i can tweak and build from the trunk if im guided to the right direction
in advance thanks

Hi,
It doesn't work because your Chipset isn't supported, I guess you have a Core i3/i5/i7 familly processor.
I don't know how to access the bit to enable writing in the shadow VBIOS on those chipset. That is why it doesn't work.

I'm sorry.

when you say chipset you mean the processor i5 430m?or  the chipset pm55?
the bit that enables writing in vbios shadow has a name? is it a function in bios?
im some kind of lost. i don know well where to look.

i have some news
i've received my displayport to vga adapter so i booted with lebidou autores chameleon GraphicsEnabler=yes  and i get fullres on DP monitor and in system preferences shows two monitors attached, both with full res and working either mirrored or extended, but in the laptop i only see black screen. same problem as with radeonHD by dong.
all vanilla ati drivers loaded. ati4600controller and ati2000x.
the edid data checked with xresolution shows correct.
so, there is no way to check why the black screen? i can see the backlight on. in doesnt look as a big problem. i mean , no KP and display detected correctly. EDID is OK.
