com.apple.boot.plist
« on: October 16, 2010, 08:31:33 PM »
Hey guys, I recently decided to start customizing chameleon. However, to install new themes, I need to change the com.apple.boot.plist in the /Extra folder. When I checked the folder, there was no plist file and so I decided to make one and added the keys I needed, such as changing the resolution and theme, but when I rebooted, nothing changed. I think this has to do with the plist, but I'm not sure how to proceed. Any ideas?

Copy vanilla com.apple.Boot.plist from /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ and use the plist editor that comes with Apple Developer Tools or google "plistedit pro".

Hi I'm fairly new to this, i've chanegd theme before on another system a year ago but that was using a program that did the work for me. I've doen all the steps Krad54 has, however it's made no difference. what do you mean by copy vanilla com.apple.boot.plist?

Thank You

An original Apple com.apple.Boot.plist which can be found in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/
You can use that as a base for building your /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist if you don't have one already.

Vanilla = Original or Unmodified.

It's not possible that placing a com.apple.boot.plist in the Extra folder doesnt work. Maybe you would like to try the app i linked below.
