Hi everyone,

I have a couple quick questions. I have ALC665 Chipset in my laptop and the sound is nothing short of perfect. By this I mean no feedback, no white noise, no speaker overdrive... I can't be more happy with the sound. I tried further updates of voodoohda and problems did arise. Specifically, all the issues above occurred.

My questions:

1. Is there a 64 bit Kext of this version as obviously my 32bit won't load with 64kernel? If not can it be converted?
2. Pref Pane - I have not been able to find a pref pane for 0.2.1 and wondering if it exists? (which I would only need if #3 is possible)
3. Enabling HDMI audio? -- I have not been able to test this as of right now (due to now pref pane), however I am wondering if HDMI audio output could be added to 0.2.1? I have a laptop with alc665 chipset, intel board, hdmi audio through Nvidia 335 gpu.

I understand this would probably require a modified Kext which I would be more than willing to donate for. This project is not a necessity but more out of enjoyment of this project.

Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much!

1. Have you tried your kext in 64bit? If i'm not wrong, you can always fetch 0.2.1 revision of VoodooHDA from the svn and then recompile it to support 64bit. Should work.. But then again.

2. There is a preference pane but it's kinda useless. The preference pane used to work with another file running in the background. The other file was voodoohdahelper and it was used to save the preferences. I have tried finding a source for voodoohdahelper to make it 64bit compatible but i don't remember ever finding one nor making it compatible. Can't remember here.

3. I don't really think adding HDMI output has anything to do with the preference pane. It's more to do with the VoodooHDA kext. Slice and AutumnRain over at another forum have been working on this the last time i remember and some of the users had successfully gotten HDMI output to work. I on the other hand have never gotten it to work so i don't really know. I'm not even sure if your GPU is supported.

OS X is kinda game and trial and error. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. You could try finding the codec pins of your laptop and configuring them yourself for the latest VoodooHDA to work.

ProjectOSX was the other forum i think. Google.

Cheers.

Thanks for the great reply. :)

I decided not to mess with HDMI then as it's really nothing that is important. I did however run 64bit kernel and only two kexts were not loaded: Voodoobattery and Voodoohda.

I checked Voodoos google code for the Source to 0.2.1 but didn't see it. However, around the internet I found people using a 64bit 0.2.1, so the question is does anyone know where I can find it or can someone make me a 64bit if they still have the source?

Thanks :)

Source is here.

http://code.google.com/p/voodoohda/source/checkout

You need an SVN client. Tortoise is good for Windows and Versions is good for OS X. Checkout the latest and then revert to 0.2.1
