Why Aren't These Listed As Official Installers?
« on: May 27, 2011, 10:01:41 PM »
I saw these installer packs on InsanelyMac and the installer says VoodooLabs on them;

Why aren't these listed here on the forum in the Official Downloads?

By the way it's spelled wrong on the forum, someone spelled it 'Offical Downloads' and it's --> Official. :)

THANKS

Because they are unofficial.

Because they are unofficial.

The installers say VoodooLabs on them, so they seem pretty official as far as who made them...

I'd like to know if someone can please explain why they are not considered official, because that typically is because someone else not related to the project packed it, but then having VoodooLabs name on the installer shouldn't be there then if they aren't official...

THANKS

I think if you read the first post of that thread you'll know why, and actually why not ask there?

Yes I was wondering the same thing, why ask here.

Print out a Voodoo labs logo, stick it on your butt and call it official if you like.  :)

iReset/Fabio is doing a great service for the community and lots of people are using his installers, it's an easy and convenient way to install or upgrade Chameleon.

But there is no "official" release of Chameleon 2.0 RC5. "RC" is short for "Release Candidate". Install/Run/Test at your own risk. And I don't mean just the various installer packages that are out there, the same goes for Chameleon that you downloaded and compiled from SVN two minutes ago and installed manually.

I think the main reason why the Voodooproject's logo was added to iReset/Fabio's 'Unofficial' package installer is because the project started by building upon the original Chameleon package scripts.  For more info, see http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php/topic,1521.0.html
