Kext load order
« on: August 24, 2011, 02:39:27 PM »
Hi, Question for those in the know...
Can Chameleon be configrued to load Kext's from E/E in a particular order ?
The reason for this would be to overcome dependancies,
for example voodohada.kext if I place this without the relevant dependancies in E/E it obviously wont load but I can then load the Kext manually at system runtime as its dependancies are already loaded, so if I can load this and other kext's last off instead of first off then I can keep things more maintainence free!

Thank you for your time

I don't know if that's possible but anyway VoodooHDA is a bad example imho.

You can safely leave VoodooHDA in /System/Library/Extensions because it will never get overwritten or deleted by an Apple system update.

Think of it like this. If you install for example Colin Munro's Xbox360 controller driver on your Hackintosh, it goes in /System/Library/Extensions like it would on a real Mac. If you install Nvidia's CUDA drivers, they go in /System/Library/Extensions. What's so bad about placing VoodooHDA there?
