Re: How do I build and install Chameleon? (SOLVED)
« on: October 27, 2011, 12:13:31 AM »
Hi guys, i'm pretty much a noob when it comes to this dev stuff but I want to use the latest chameleon since my ati card was added to the trunk 2 days ago.
I have downloaded the source, i've got xcode and i've opened the project which is inside trunk, clicked build and I now have a new folder but it still doesn't contain the boot 0 or boot1 files.
I've tried the search option but I think the search feature is very vague on here.
Sorry if this should be obvious or is posted somewhere (I have looked) but maybe it should be a sticky or be in a READ ME file?
Thanks

If you aren't looking to modify the code, did you try the build from the buildbot?

It's been a while since I built chameleon, but i vaguely remember having to download the nasm assembler to compile the boot files.

I'm not exactly on the bleeding edge but unless things have changed in the past few weeks, Chameleon builds just fine with xcode.
now have a new folder but it still doesn't contain the boot 0 or boot1 files.
Look again. Your files are inside the i386 folder.

i don't bother with loading the project in to xcode.
Providing you have the developer tools installed (which you will have for xcode), use the Terminal.
cd to the downloaded folder and type make. or make config for options.

Sounds like the most sensible method  :) I shall give it a try in a minute.
I'm only trying to do it as my ati device id isn't recognised.
I tried using the build bot pre made versions as apparently macman added my ati 6470m card to the ati.c file 3 days ago but I downloaded the version he modified but it still didn't make my card work so I was trying to modify the ati.c and build it myself

You're looking in the wrong i386 folder, try again :-)

[Mod Edit] Oops.. Apologies as I've accidentally edited your post when replying to your last post instead of making a new one. Too early for me this morning (Sorry). But for the record, you had said something like 'Thanks but I did as black ops suggested and have now found the files....."

I was going to reply:
black ops?  ;D
