Can anyone test and report back maybe testing with a VM if medik's dark black apple 2D logo works on a gloss white background?

Anyone see a boot flag that deals with default apple boot logo?

boot in the style of lion
Hi xmedik

I actually quite like it though it's a does look a bit strange on the light grey background that the kernel draws.
Thanks for posting it.

Hey PolishOX :)

Yes it works, but I've only tested it on the light grey background. How would you use it on a white background ?

Nope. AFAIK there aren't any switches for it. The boot.png shown is the file taken from the current theme. If the boot.png is removed from the theme the GUI won't render (I think).

hmm I swear there was a key you could set in the boot.plist for cham to use the classic gray apple, over the theme's... Oh well =p

<key>Yes</key>

It was introduced in RC2.

Ah.  I believe on the machine in question this was enabled.  I'll try removing it then testing medik's logo.

Report back in a few minutes...

I removed the boot flag for the logo.

Ok well I was able to darken and replace the logo supplied by medik.  It worked.

However, the color of the background upon boot is stuck at that ugly default grey.

I could have sworn in the past I've seen people even use black.

Any ideas?

AFAIK, the color is unchangeable, even through the theme plist. The workaround however is simply to use a boot.png image the size of your screen resolution, thereby having a "background" color/image of whatever you want. It might take a little while longer to draw the image though =p.

I'm posting here a version of this theme for trial compatibility for cparm's latest changes to Chameleon for identifying different versions of OS X. The device names have been updated to what the revised booter looks for, and I've included an extra device for Tiger.
