ASUS P5B with AD1988 works (partially)
« on: April 27, 2009, 12:43:22 PM »
Thanks Voodoo Team ;D
ASUS P5B motherboard (vanilla)
Has AD1988 (not B)
Earlier it used to work only with AzaliaAudio

With VoodooHDA, speakers work, I only use stereo speakers, Cant change the number of speakers to more than two in Preferences.
The Analog Out is recognised as "Unknown"
Digital Out gets recognized in Sound Preference Panel
Mic in is recognized but doesn't work (hopefully work in progress)
The VoodooHDA.PrefPane just crashes when run ("Cant map memory" error) Was not using the kext bundled with prefpane. It works if the bundled one is used

And it works from /Extra in EFI partition nicely, it needs IOAudioFamily.kext and OSvKernDSPLib.kext installed in /Extra to satisfy dependencies

I use the vooodooHDA 0.2.2 (64bit) on my ASUS P5B Deluxe.

OUTPUT : device is called UNKNOWN but works perfectly.
INPUT : device is called MIC but doesn't seem to work, HOWEVER when i use the vooodooHDA,prefpane (INPUT section) , the INPUT Gain slider is greyed ou but if i put both IMIX and MONITOR sliders to 100% i can finally hear my mic working ....  so i guess we are NOT that far from a solution...

i'd love to customize  my own kext from the dumps but the only result i get with "getdump -dump" is :
"Found a device of class VoodooHDADevice: IOService:/AppleACPIPlatformExpert/PCI0@0/AppleACPIPCI/pci8086,284b@1B/VoodooHDADevice"

i wish i could get obtain a  real dump ... please help me out.
