Chameleon 2 Mac OS X 10.5.6 Grey Screen "needs restart"
« on: June 13, 2009, 12:27:30 AM »
Ive succesfully installed retail Leopard onto my HDD using Boot-132. Ive manually installed Chameleon 2 rc1 on the EFI partiton using this guide http://www.ihackintosh.com/2009/04/how-to-install-chameleon-20-rc1/
(the second part of that guide).
When I reboot Chameleon 2 starts up and shows Mac OS X  logo and it looks all fine but when I select it to boot it shows the apple logo and appears to be loading, but then the screen darkens and it says I need to restart the computer. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!?!?! I followed that guide all except for the DSDT.aml file because 1) I didnt think it was necissary and 2) I have NO idea where to begin with that. Anyways . . . HELP PLEASE!?!?!
(im pulling my hair out)

Could be anything... boot with -v and tell us what it says.

You need either a disabler.kext or a fixed DSDT.aml file to fix that.

thats what I was thinking after doing some research. Im gonna try a disabler.kext and get back to ya. Why is this not necissary when booting from boot-132? Because I can still boot with an unmodified boot-132 cd without a problem. Just wondering.

boot-132 use to have a disabler.kext inside initrd.img

okay, Ive tried the disabler kext. Ive placed it in /Volumes/EFI/Extra/Extensions and now it still wont boot but now theres no screen thats says it needs restarted. It just cycles through loading. Here's what -v says

Err....did you installe dsmos.kext?

It's a pretty obvious question, but since you said "Ive succesfully installed retail Leopard onto my HDD using Boot-132" and you didn't installed disabler.kext I don't know what to think.

Anyway I think maybe your problems have nothing to do with Chameleon but with your lack of experience installing a retail system.
