Supporting OSX /64 Snow Leopard
« on: June 26, 2009, 07:42:03 AM »
Chameleon 2.xxx is great and very nice bootmanager, but I'm missing something importing for the future: supporting osx64. Snow Leopard is a 64 bits os, so if I try to use it for the latest beta. It's not working and the system stops it all.

regards from Holland

You can lock this post and request about Chameleon 2.0-RC2, because it works great with Snow Leopard. The unlay thing that I have chanced is the bootfile and adding some kext files.
You did very well and it is a great jump in the front for the osx86 community.

Hi,

What I did in chronologic form:
Mount Snow Leopard Distribution
Open up Disk Utility.
Click the partition or DVD to be the Installer
Click restore
Drag Mac OS X Install DVD to source
Drag Empty Partition or DVD to Destination
Check Erase Destination

Install Chameleon with hidden EFI method (Efi HFS option)
Uncheck Extras and install Chameleon 2.0-RC2-r640

Next you make changes in the Efi partition, I suppose that you can work in the Terminal and knowing the codes that you must use.

You must change the boot file, it is not from Netkas. You can find it here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=54646
And this kext files are necessary http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=54647
And you can in Extra folder --> place the kext files that your system need.

If you did all the things that describe here, your system can boot a installation partion with Snow Leopard and it can also boot Snow Leopard

And what exactly is that 'boot' file?

Hi,

Chameleon brings a boot file that not work propperly with mine install method. If you changed it with the boot file that I said too you, than it works very well. I did not wrote the boot file so I can not explain to you what the different things are is between the two files.

Can you at least link the page so we know who/where to ask?

Also, please keep in mind that this is a Chameleon support forum.

Well, it clearly says "Chameleon v2 RC1 USB Bootloader w/Netkas PCEFIv10.1 patched boot".

And what I meant with my previous post is, this isn't the right place for asking questions, looking for support or discussing other booters.
