GPT Partition Table Curropt by latest revision!
« on: May 10, 2013, 09:13:14 AM »
I have occasionally run into this severe problem which disables my ability to boot/install ANY bootloader and forces me to muck around with things I shouldn't to get it working, anyway, I installed 2.2svn-r2203 and here is my log output:

Chameleon installer log - Fri May 10 01:59:24 EDT 2013

Target disk already has existing Chameleon stage 0 loader - boot0hfs
Detected a Windows installation on this volume.

Stage 0 loader not written to /dev/disk0.
Written boot1h to /dev/rdisk0s2.
Written boot to /Volumes/SSD Mt.Lion on /dev/disk0s2.

Preparing to check target disk for previous installations.
Going to check the EFI system partition also.
Mounting /dev/disk0s1 as /Volumes/EFI.
Checking disk0.
INFO: Found boot1h installed to /dev/disk0s1
NOTE: so select to boot that partition (if used) with active flag.

So my partition table was for my ADATA 128GB SSD,

         Starting       Ending
#: id  cyl  hd sec -  cyl  hd sec [     start -       size]
------------------------------------------------------------------------
*1: EE 1023 254  63 - 1023 254  63 [         1 -     409639] <Unknown ID>

 4: 07 1023 254  63 - 1023 254  63 [ 188164096 -   61904896] HPFS/QNX/AUX

but after failing to boot (Operating System Not Found) and using a USB boot it's,

Disk: /dev/rdisk0   geometry: 15566/255/63 [250069680 sectors]
Offset: 0   Signature: 0xAA55
         Starting       Ending
#: id  cyl  hd sec -  cyl  hd sec [     start -       size]
------------------------------------------------------------------------
 1: EE 1023 254  63 - 1023 254  63 [         1 -  250069679] GPT
 2: 00    0   0   0 -    0   0   0 [         0 -          0] unused
 3: 00    0   0   0 -    0   0   0 [         0 -          0] unused
 4: 00    0   0   0 -    0   0   0 [         0 -          0] unused

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, my temporary fix is to do this,

Disk: /dev/rdisk0   geometry: 15566/255/63 [250069680 sectors]
Offset: 0   Signature: 0xAA55
         Starting       Ending
#: id  cyl  hd sec -  cyl  hd sec [     start -       size]
------------------------------------------------------------------------
 1: AB    0   0   1 - 1023 254  63 [         0 -          8] Darwin Boot
 2: EE    0   0   2 - 1023 254  63 [         1 -  250069679] GPT
 3: 00    0   0   0 -    0   0   0 [         0 -          0] unused
 4: 00    0   0   0 -    0   0   0 [         0 -          0] unused

I'm going to assume this is very unsafe but I can't even boot off the secondary drive either, when it happens to one drive, it happens to both.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
