Leopard 10.5.8 update
« on: August 05, 2009, 11:56:02 PM »
Anyone tried so far?  I'll probably give it a shot tonight, but I'd be interested in hearing what I should expect.

I am running 10.5.8, Chameleon2-RC2 and voodoo2-alpha3 now.  Update from 10.5.7 to 10.5.8 went without a problem.  However, I looked on  ketkas blog and followed his instruction for update prep.  It was worth the time.

Updated to 10.5.8 with just minor problem, edited the Geforce.kext, NVDANV40Hal.kext and NVDAResman.kext for the right device id and everything is ok. A very old rig...P4 (socket 478) was able to triple boot with windows7 and ubuntu 9.04 with Chameleon 2.0-RC2, thanks to the chameleon team.

My apologies guys for posting here....

Updated to 10.5.8 with Software Update perfectly.
Only issue is sleep now forces a reboot on my system. But from reading about, sleep is a common problem.

I know you've put this bold to empahsise it, but can you confirm sleep definitely works for you on 10.5.8?
and your system specs and type of install, i.e. retail?

It's working fine for me also, except for GraphicsEnabler and ForceHPET.
Is GraphicsEnabler working for anyone on 10.5.8? I've got a 9600 GSO.

Thanks for your reply grako. However, sleep is now sorted in 10.5.8. by using DSDT and removing disabler.kext to let AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement run.

@ Blackosx

I have nearly the same MoBo as you. How did you manage to use the AppleIntelCPUPowermanagement.kext? If i try to load it, i get a kernelpanic immediately. I am using a fixed DSDT made by DSDT_Patcher. How does yours look like?

I have attached my DSDT.aml file here for you to look at. For reference I have put together a guide for building DSDT for the GA-EP45-DS3L using Koalala's ACPI Patcher on Insanely (showtopic=177497)

Hope this helps you. :)

@Spooky

You need to make a DSDT.aml file for you motherboard by using either Koalala's ACPI Patcher or fassl's DSDT Patcher (Search for the threads on insanely), then when you have one, add it to /Extra.

The second part to enable 10.5.8 sleep seems to be the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext. It needs to be in your /System/Library/Extensions and left running. This normally causes a Kernel Panic, so most people would either remove it or use a Disabler.kext to disable it. A properly configured DSDT file with allow you to have this in /S/L/E without the use of a Disabler.

Hope this helps..

(for completeness sake)

The second part to enable 10.5.8 sleep seems to be the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext. It needs to be in your /System/Library/Extensions and left running. This will only work if your hackintosh is using an unmodified Apple kernel (AKA vanilla).

So don't try this if your system has an AMD or Pentium M/4/D CPU or any Celeron model based on those.
