The DVD Player quits when an iso file image is mounted. The system log shows:

"Error getting a reference to /options"

On the boot screen at startup this probably-related message appears:

"Error getting a reference to IODeviceTree:/options"

Regular DVD disks still play ok.

This problem did not occur with (some) older versions of Chameleon.

You're probably using some of the modified DVDs which you shouldn't expect support for here, or "disabling" the AppleEFIRuntime kext.

I wasn't looking for DVD Player support. That's just a symptom of the
real problem which was the missing element in the device tree.

But following your suggestion about the AppleEFIRuntime, I removed
the Disabler.kext and switched to using a DSDT.aml. This fixed the
problem and helped me get rid of several other kexts.

Thanks!

...modified [OS X] DVDs... sorry for being unclear.

You could just remove the relevant entry in the Disabler kext, anyway, glad you fixed it :)

I have the same exact problem, but can't find the kext responsible... any ideas?

The problem I was having with the DVDPlayer was caused by a missing entry
in the device tree. The problem came up after updating to 10.5.8.

It was fixed when I started using a dsdt.dsl file, which I generated using the
DSDT_Patcher utility. Once I had a dsdt file, I no longer needed Disabler.kext
or AppleSMBIOS.kext. I also no longer needed an EFI string in com.apple.Boot.plist
to get my nvidia graphics card to support quartz. The only non-vanilla kext I need
to boot is dsmos.kext.

I'm already using dsdt.aml since .5.5, and worked fine, but now i'm using Snow. Never used Disabler.kext. Tried removing AppleSMBIOS.kext. The EFI string is required to me. I don't know...  >:(

Greetings,

I get this error too.  But, it happens at boot time.

I did not understand any of this stuff.  Because, there's so much to take in.

I get the:

[ DumpPanic "Error getting reference to IODeviceTree:/options ]

Not sure what to make of it.

I have C2 RC4 PCEFI_10_4 running on iPC 10.5.6 Universal Final PPF w/PPF patch 1.1 for AMD CPU Phenom x3 8400 and nForce MCP61 chipset, 3Gb Ram @ 667MHz. SATAII HD's.  One for Mac and One for Windows 7.
One old IDE80giga 133ata. I did not select the AHCI because I was testing the IDE first to see if it would install.

Not sure what information you would need, I have the logs on hand.  And at current running in Windows 7 since, I cannot burn an .iso over 4.38Gb with the native burner on OS X.  Plus utorrent doesn't work either.

As far as I can understand, the distro for iPC said to select bare minium.  I don't have a claer understanding of all these patches, disablers, and so forth.  Because I'm a novice at Mac, this is my first Mac by the way and it's quite a learning curve, keyboard, where things are place so forth.  But, I have many years experience with Solaris and HP-UX UNIX.  So, there's the good points.  I do not however, understand alot of programmer lingo sinc the spsned alot time in C and other othrs, and now this window is jumping up and odwn

I figured it out at boot.

The problem is as someone state above:  when running Sata in conjunction with IDE, you the error at boot.
Remove the IDE or the Sata, and the error goes away.

Now I have to get a Sata DVD/CD or a eSata one.  One or the other.

Thanks for clarifying this up top.  It's similar to the USB or PS/2 one or the other but not both issue.

CORRECTION:  Cannot Burn a 4.38GB .iso in OS X.  Must be 4.35GB or so. how to fix this?

Happy New Year to all.
Stu

By the way which key sends the 'end' command to the end of line instead of up and down?
Thanks
