Strange distribution of files. Any idea why?
« on: August 12, 2009, 12:11:46 AM »
Hi,
some time ago I migrated my installation from munky's zero modification approach (EFI partition based) to chameleon RC1. It worked without a glitch. After upgrading to chameleon RC2 I noticed a strange behavior.

I chose to install RC2 on my system partition. After that my system still gets
  • boot
  • com.apple.Boot.plist
  • dsdt.aml
from the EFI partition.
But the Extensions folder is used from my system partition.

Although it's not a real problem it confuses me and I wonder if this is normal as I'd expect to load everything either from the EFI partition or the system partition.

I tried a lot to get everything in one place like reinstalling chameleon manually with no success. After hundrets  ::) - well not hundrets but a lot of reboots it would be great to know if this the expected behavior or if there's a way to fix it.

Thanks in advance

That's the logical way it should behave, so if you want to have your Extra stuff from the EFI System partition used, remove the "/Extra" directory from your root partition.

Thanks for the information. Unfortunately loading kexts from the EFI partition didn't work for me. Nevertheless I'm happy that everything works now.
