Chameleon 2.0 can’t boot Snow Leopard
« on: September 02, 2009, 09:21:36 AM »
Chameleon 2.0 can’t boot properly Snow Leopard, so Netkas developed a beta boot file called PCEFI 10 that adds the support to Snow Leopard. But that PCEFI 10 boot file is not compatible with Chameleon 2.0 RC2!

Please Update Chameleon Version 2 so we can boot properly the Snow Leopard!

Actually i heard it boots it fine but just doesn't support the new mkext location yet.

I too am anxiously awaiting full SL support. But i'll be patient  :'(
Thanks!

It does load the mkext from the new location, but there is a small change in loading kext which isn't supported, it's been added and it will be in the next release.

Actually I have also noticed that Chameleon RC2 on Snow Leopard  does not load properly the Extensions.mkext  files for all the following 3 (three) directories:
1. /Extra/Extensions.mkext
2. /System/Library/Extensions.mkext
3. /Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extensions.mkext

I had to manually create the above Extensions.mkext files

Also the beta boot files EFI V10.0 , V10.1 and 10.2 each produce different bugs on Chameleon RC2 and RC1.

Finally the DSDT.aml file does not get recognized properly on Snow Leopard 10.6 producing KP

(The file DSDT.aml is recognized properly only on 10.5.8 but not on Snow Leopard 10.6)

@csharp

I am using DSDT.aml successfully with SL. Chameleon RC1 with PCEFI 10.2 boot.
Have you tried that combo?

Looking forward to going back to "vanilla" chameleon with the next release :)
