Cannot find mach_kernel?
« on: September 03, 2009, 04:17:04 AM »
Followed all the instructions very carefully from http://aserebln.blogspot.com/ and everything went well up to booting OSX for the first time.  I used the EFIStudio to add my graphics card (which isn't listed as an option, by the way; I have a GeForce 9800 GTX+ and the card closest in EFIStudio is the 9800 GTX) and Ethernet and then copied the hex code to the plist as instructed.  Followed the rest of the instructions and then rebooted, expecting everything to be fine.  But, then I get an error message that says something to the effect of "cannot find mach_kernel" and it hangs.  I tried wiping out the USB flash drive and starting from scratch but the result was the same error message.  Any ideas?  I have EFi-X v1.0 right now and while it works just fine, I like the idea behind Chameleon 2.0 RC2 better and would love to begin using it!

Hi,

I don't know if you still searching the answer for your problem but you need to add com.apple.Boot.plist file in Extra folder. I'm assuming you're using Boot-132 USB, right? Make sure you specify "Default Partition" in com.apple.Boot.plist file. "Default Partition" is referring to your Mac OS X partition, for example:-
<key>Default Partition</key>
<string>hd(0,2)</string>
Base on the above example, the Mac OS X was installed at the second partition. Change it according to your setup.

You don't need a Device Properties string for your 9800GTX+ if you're using Chameleon, just set GraphicsEnabler = Yes in com.apple.Boot.plist.
