Any luck with Radeon HDMI output?

I have a Radeon 4870x2 with an RV770 chip and I noticed that it was in the model list for voodoohda, but the getdump utility finds a R6xx chip instead. It discovers the HDMI digital output, but I get no sound. It also only finds 2 channels. I'm wondering if anyone was able to get working sound through HDMI. Thanks.

Still curious about this. I'm considering getting an Auzentech Home Theater HD with X-Fi chip and HDMI. I'm thinking that the other X-Fi PCIe cards seem to be working with VoodooHDA, that this one should too, but I'm wondering if it might work with the HDMI output of it.
