Can't boot Windows XP after Chameleon FAIL
« on: September 15, 2009, 11:56:37 PM »
So, I was trying to install the bootloader, and in the terminal I typed disk0 (Windows XP) instead of disk2 (OS X) for step 1 of the installation README. It said "no such file or directory", so I assumed it didn't do anything, but now I can't get Windows to boot. It just hangs. I'm assuming there's a fix, it was mentioned in the Chameleon FAQ, but not explained in detail. I stupidly dove into this without proper research, and I really need to get back to my Windows OS. Any ideas?

AMD Athlon 64 4000+
MSI K8N Neo4
NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS

Assuming that you followed the "Normal Install (non-RAID)" and only the stage 0 step (Install boot0 to the MBR), you should face no major harm.

I do not run windows myself but iirc there's a fixmbr tool available from within windows console, also check the multibooting faq
