Multiboot between RAID and Non Raid OSX installation
« on: September 28, 2009, 06:39:47 PM »
Hello

I've running 10.5 on Apple RAID (disk0 & disk1) with edited apple.boot.plist with my uuid in both boot partition and i'am able to boot it fine. And i can choose to boot my Vista install on disk2

Now i installed 10.6 on disk3 and i can't boot it with my default chameleon RC3 cause of the edited boot.plist. i can boot it properly using chameleon on a usbstick but then i'm not able to switch to 10.5 RAID

Now my question is. Don't blame me but i didn't found the answer is it possible to use diferent boot.plist for different OSX installation???

Normally you don't need it but in this particular case.

PS: i can't make chameleon go on my 1TB Seagate "ST31000520AS" 10.6 doesn't boot hanging in verbose mode here:

Code: [Select]
SerialATAPI device reconfiguration did not complete successfully. FailedCommandInfo = 0x1
SerialATAPI device reconfiguration did not complete successfully. FailedCommandInfo = 0x2

Still waiting for root device

SerialATAPI Terminating due to unrecoverable Reset error -drive has stopped responding (resetType = 0x0, newPowerState = 0x1/code]

the same installation i can boot it fine if i install chameleon on usbstick

thx for the great work done. Chameleon is a great project.

Official Chameleon Docs is your friend :)

Additional useful command-line options:
config=<file>             Use an alternate Boot.plist file.
Stop bitching, start coding or documenting or both..

Hola

thx for the answer...  this is quite nice command for trying new boot.plist on same osx installation but not for everyday multiboot.

If i'm right, this command, you have to insert due Darwin boot on each start of the "non default OSX".
i was looking for a way like rc3 handels mkext for each system so it could handel diferent boot.plist in an automated way for each installation.

This is how i understand the info in the chameleon doc  :-\

is there a way to set the command into the default com.apple.boot.plist

some kind of
if disk2s2 then config= /alternative boot/com.apple.boot.plist

if yes you may give me an example how to do it please.

thx
