How to dual boot two windows with chameleon
« on: October 21, 2009, 03:16:21 PM »
I've been looking around for a bootloader with a nice interface. The only two i found satisfying was refit and chameleon 2.0 :) I really love the way chameleon is able to change appearance! This is the first time i'm getting in to all of this boot-related stuff so be gentle! Hope i posted on the right board..  ::)

What i want:
Dual boot windows xp x86 and vista x64.

Proplem:
I don't know if i am able to use chameleon. I have a amd-based motherboard/cpu and i've read a lot about this EFI-stuff, which i don't know if my computer has. Also my system is x64 based, though it's running xp x86 just fine. So do you guys know if i am able to use Chameleon?

(i'm using a toshiba sattelite l500d)

Hope you know!

You mean dual boot 2 windows installations without OS X? Its not worth the hassle imho.
You woul probably need at least a spare partition or a usb stick and some distro to install it the easy way.
Mac OS X 10.5.6 Retail (Updated to 10.5.7) with Chameleon 2.0 RC1+BootIt NextGen 1.86 (MBR Single Drive)
Gigabyte 73PVM-S2H + C2D + 2 Gb
2 SATA HD (AppleAHCIport.kext) + 1 PATA DVD+RW (DarwinATAPort.kext)
Realtek ALC889 (VoodooHDA.kext)
Geforce 8600GTS (EFI String) PS/2 M & KB: VoodooPS2.kext

I'm up for the challenge! But do you think chameleon will run on my machine? And do you know any tutorials, wich might suit my needs? Also i've had the thought of running some kind of os x before, but it's not my first concern. I'm used to windows and really dying everytime i see that lousy textbased bootloader.

Chameleon kan køre på din farmors 286'er.

You don't need anything 'EFI' to run Chameleon itself.
64/32-bit doesn't make any difference either.

Keep an eye on this thread for ways to install Chameleon without using OSX:
