How to install with Windows?
« on: September 21, 2009, 05:26:35 PM »
Hello.

I want to install the lovely Chameleon Bootloader. I love the Themes. But i have few questions.
1.  Is it possible to install the bootloader on a new partition (boot), with no Operating System on this disk. And then the Chameleon Bootloader comes and i can choose Windows Vista and Windows 7.
2. Can i install it with a Windows system? How can i install it? With a boot installation cd?
3. The boot flags of what partions i must add/delete?

When i install a new os, Windows 7 as example. Can i hold the Chameleon bootloader, or must i reinstall it?

Thanks.

you need to get the dd port for windows.

write boot0 to MBR:
dd if=boot0 of=path_to_disk bs=400 count=1
write boot1h to boot partition (and make sure it's either VFAT or HFS):
dd if=boot1h of=path_to_partition

put boot in the root of that partition and you're good to go.

also; make sure that the partition which you write boot1h to is flagged as being bootable.
