[Theme] Blackosx_BSOD
« on: September 23, 2009, 09:45:33 PM »
Here's one I just knocked up for a bit of fun.
It's at 1680x1050 and for full effect I recommend using the required settings in your com.apple.Boot.plist

   <key>Instant Menu</key>
   <string>Yes</string>
   <key>Boot Banner</key>
   <string>No</string>

:D

What do we do if our resolution isn't 1680x1050?
Do we modify our resolution to 1680x1050, or modify the theme somehow to our native resolution.
The native resolution on my screen is 1366x768 (Highest Setting)

You can do either, but I prefer to modify the theme to suit the resolution. Here's how

A small improvement I could suggest is moving the "error" (white text) down slightly further so there's not a huge blank blue space.  Also, is there any way to remove the Darwinx86/Chameleon text from the upper-left corner.  And is there a way to change the "Linux""Windows" and "OS X" labels under the images (e.g. 000xEXT3) to blue so that there is just the images seen?

Hi sdbinwiiexe

It was something I made for fun and just copied a Windows blue screen as it appeared, as a real BSOD would then go on to print messages in the remaining blue space about 'beginning a memory dump' etc. but feel free to edit the files as you would like. Maybe you could make a revised background image then post it back here?

For hiding the names of the partitions that Chameleon prints, all I can think of is either changing the colour of the font_small.png to match the background colour, or replacing the font_small.png to a blank font_small.png file. I have never tried doing the second option, but I guess it will leave the menu's blank also...

To remove the Darwin text from the top left corner, add the 'Boot Banner' boot option to your com.apple.Boot.plist as I described in the first post.

Have fun :)
