Chameleon ignoring default partition entry
« on: October 27, 2009, 07:26:57 PM »
I have two sata drives in my system. SATA 1 is the drive with my Vista install on. SATA 2 is the drive with my OS X Leopard install on.
However, as the bios is set to boot from the Leopard drive, the ID of the Vista drive is disk1s1 and the ID of the OS X drive is disk0s2

I added the entry into com.apple.Boot.plist file (<key>Default Partition</key>,,,,<string>hd(1,1)</string>) but no matter what, Chameleon simply refuses to boot Vista as the default OS.

I can hit any key and get into the selection screen and Vista will boot from there, but I want it to auto boot.

I have set the timeout to 5secs and it is reading that, but completely ignoring the default partition entry.

I have booted with the leopard dvd in, pressed -s and used fdisk to make the os x partition active, and then I also did it to make the vista partition active.

It makes no difference.

What's going on? Can anyone help?

Cheers

My system:
Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe
AMD Phenom 9750 X4 2.4GHz
2 x 2GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800
EVGA 896MB GTX 260
2 SATA drives, one with OS X 10.5.8 install and one with Windows Vista
2 IDE drives (storage)
Distro: LawlessPPC Phenom&AMD >> Qoopz 9.8.0 v2 kernel > > iDeneb 10.5.8 combo update

I don't know it this will help but here is what I experienced:
Chameleon always believes it is hd(0,2). So, if your config shows some other disks as hd(0,2) and your Vista as hd(1,1) it just might be that your Default partition string should be hd(2,1). Try it, it will not break anything but it might be your answer.
