Title: [Theme] Blackosx_Revenge_of_the_Big_Screen_2012
Post by: Blackosx on January 01, 2012, 10:13:46 PM
As the release of Chameleon r1738 contained code to detect that version of OS X, It's time to try to put together some themes that can support the extra devices. This is play on the Blackosx_Big_Screen_2012_Refresh theme.

Please see the ReadMe included in the download for installation instructions.

Note: I nabbed Enzo's idea for the part faded device selection graphic which he used in one of his previous theme. This is not as nice as his version though, but thanks Enzo  :P

Enjoy

This is quite possibly the best looking Chameleon theme that I have ever used. Thank You for all your work!

Try to  d/l zip file, and it saves an index.php file. Am I doing something wrong?

Hmmm, it downloaded fine for me.  Login to Lion has been my favorite, but this is a close second.  Awesome theme and well done!!

Simply change its extension by renaming your downloaded index.php to the index.zip, then unzip it as usual.

The files are fairly large so if you let me know what you intend to do and which file you require then I can let you have a template.

Here you are.

I've attached a lzma compressed .psd file of a single device with all necessary layers to create your own.

Enjoy :)

kudos to blackosx,  i added two more doovers,  but more importantly i changed the template PSD so it's easier quicker to use.

Now you can just paste in your image once (into the smart thingy), and all the rest is generated.   If you're lucky, it may even line up and you won't have to nudge it.

PSD is in the first link, icons in the second...   and if you're wondering "why the XP", i'm going to do a quick (cheating) patch to chameleon so I can differentiate.

Nice work sfinktah. Using Smart Objects is indeed a better method.
And smart filters eh.. I'm behind the times!  :P
Thanks for sharing.

I've made a slight amendment to the reflection layer mask to remove the line that appeared at the bottom of the reflection.

Oh, sh*t no, I don't know anything about smart layers and smart filters and such...  I thought you did that...   There was 1 smart object in the PSD I found, and I had no choice but to learn how it worked.

Good work on the gradient mask, I was just painting a little more black on each time.

I was thinking... If I knew a little bit more, or had time,  it should be possible to do the smart object without any effects on it, and then you'd have a process that was simple enough that you could reduce it to an action.   Just take a screen shot, hit the action, and it could pop out two png's.

Maybe redo entire themes (if you can applescript it)....  I'm really not expert in these things.

I was hoping to learn enough, and have some ideas to do a matching theme for my BIOS splash screen, but I havent' thought of anything that wouldn't look retarded yet.   I'd appreciate any ideas, here's the POST screen:

I think you can kind of see what I'm thinking...  and why I chose the spotlight theme to play with (although it really is the best theme).

Addendum:  Here is the code I patched to add the XP logo...   it simply matches any NTFS partition with the name "Windows XP" (well, what else would  you call it).   Works a treat.
