I found the iPhone illustrations on the internet so I can't take credit for the drawings. But I have created this theme using those. It's as 1920x1200 so it will be easy enough to resize to fit smaller resolutions.
I have also made a few additional devices which I will add to if people want. For instance, one for windows XP, vista and Mac OS X 10.6.
Enjoy :)
EDIT: 17th June 2010 - Added devices using the iPhone4 image (Thanks Windows04 for the inspiration to update this theme). The main image of the iPhone4 I have used has been taken from on an image by Jake Moore from Macristocracy (http://macristocracy.com/vanilla/comments.php?DiscussionID=1126).
EDIT: 6th August 2010 - I have since found the place I originally got the iPhone 3 PSD file from. It was from teehanlax.com (link (http://www.teehanlax.com/blog/2008/08/19/iphone-gui-psd/)), and they also have images for the iPhone4 though I didn't use them for the iphone4 device icons in this theme.
-
Love it. ;) Whenever you think that just about every idea has been tried or done already, you just seem to come up with some authentic cool and fresh! Keep them coming, bro! ;D
-
Cheers mate. I keep trying :)
-
Any chance of getting a psd template so people can modify the drive images? I mean, not everyone is on Chameleon RC2, or 10.5.8, so it'd be cool if we had a template to modify, would that be possible? Keep up the great work
-
Yeah, shoot!
Here you go ;D
-
Dude, thanks :D
EDIT: What font did you use, I'm in Windows atm, and photoshop is complaining that the font is missing
-
Helvetica Neue Light for the main Title. i.e. Mac OS X, Windows etc.
Helvetica Neue Regular for the sub heading i.e. Version 10.5.8 etc.
OS X has it built in, but I have got a separate version as a postscript font, but not as a truetype, is that any good for you?
-
No good, I need truetype for it to work in Windows. don't worry about, I'll find it somewhere now I know what it's called. Thanks again dude
-
Thought as much. No probs, I look forward to seeing extra devices here... ;)
-
lol, well, pretty much just removed the sub-title off each for now, as that suits me better.
When I get time, I'm gonna do up a LinuxMint version of the ext3 icon, there isn't really much else I need to do, you did a damn fine job on the device icons
-
Thanks staticanime, glad you like it :)
-
NP, just giving praise where it's due, I think the Chameleon guys should include a few of your themes in the next release :P
-
Hey, Blackosx, quick questions. what fonts did you use/colors, etc. I resized the theme down to 800x600 (it's stretched to 1024x600 for my netbook) but the fonts are huge, just wanna know what you used so I could use that theme maker script to "rsize" the fonts to fit my screen?
-
I didn't use Cizko's font maker for this one, I made that by hand.
But for reference I used Arial Bold for the text. I will send you the PSD for it if you want when I get back to my machine.
-
Cool. Your resizing tutorial said not to resize the font files, so any idea what would be best to make them fit 800x600?
-
Apologies for the delay, here's the font_small PSD file.
And as for resizing, yes don't scale the font files or they won't work, you will need to resize it by hand. But if you're just making the theme for yourself then for speed use Cizko's Fontmaker and try a few different fonts and sizes to see what looks the best for you. :)
-
I ended up lifting font_small.png from the Boot Camp theme for Netbooks, it works quite well.
Made a few personal changes to the theme, decided I'd upload it for other users, and your inspection :P
-
Well done, it's passed inspection :P (only joking)
It's good to see what other people have done with the themes. There are endless variations, colours, sizes, tweaks etc. that someone could come up with. So thanks for sharing what you have done.
Keep it up ;D

Hi Blackosx,
I really like the Iphone theme :D. I tried to use this theme on a 1920x1080 resolution, i resized the files to this resolution, but the iPhones are still bigger than they need to be :s...

I calculate to convert the original devices from 1200 lines to 1080 lines would be a 90% reduction and if this is what you have done and the devices are still too big then make them smaller. I have resized them to 80% for you and attached a ZIP file. See if they fit better :)

Shockingly good theme :o
I've added the additional devices to theme folder but my XP partitions still show the Windows7 ntfs icon - how do I get it to show XP icon..?
-
Thanks starship :)
If you want to use the XP device icon you will need to rename it to 'device_ntfs.png' and replace the existing Win7 one (or move the original Win7 to save overwriting it).

I'm using a 2560x1600 display, and every time I try to resize the images, they become crushed horizontally. Any chance that you could possibly resize the theme for 2560x1600 help. :-* :o

I have looked at your situation and don't understand why the images end up crushed?
Doing the math of dividing the required size by the original size and multiplying by 100:
Width 2560 / 1900 = 1.34 x 100 = 134%
Height 1600 / 1200 = 1.33 x 100 = 133%
Therefore resizing your required graphics (as explained in the Resizing Themes (http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php/topic,237.0.html) Guide) by 133% for both the X & Y results in correctly proportioned images. Have another go and see how you get on.

very nice!
ill apply it right away! Thank you
:D

Hi Blackosx,
I just LOVE your theme and have been using it for many months now... With the new release of ubuntu (10.04), could you modify the "ubuntu" iPhone with the new wallpaper and change to version to 10? I know it's just a little change, but it would be nice ;).
Thanks :D
-
Hi Windows04
Yes, I can do that. It's great to hear of my themes being enjoyed.
Give me a little while to get my end together and I will post it here when done.
EDIT: Here it is, and I have changed the title string to read CH-RC4 rather than CH-RC2 (hope you don't mind that). :)
Regards
blackosx
-
Thanks :D, that was fast :D.
EDIT: wasn't this the default wallpaper for ubuntu 10.04? Well, it was for me at the installation/first startup:

Lol.. Thanks for the update. ;D
This should be what you're after.
-
For those of you who want to have the same boot screen as on the iPhone, here is an 1920x1080 version of it. I can't test it myself because chameleon doesn't support 1920x1080 resolution on my graphics card and the apple is just pasted on top of a black background, so sorry if it isn't perfectly in the middle (but i think i have done a fairly good job). I'm using a 1400x1050 version of it right now and it is just the best boot image if you have the iphone theme installed ;).
-
Good idea, well done :)

Thank you staticanime for your effort, this nice 1024x600 theme is perfect for my Dell Mini 10v (1011)!
Thank you BlackOSX for making the theme in the first place! Really clever one, too!
Here's a boot logo for people running OS X on dell mini's. It's 160x193 and sits above the kernel generated spinning gear on my mini 10v very nicely. Much obliged to BladeRunner and BlackOsx for helping me out on my earlier post.
EDIT: I took the liberty of taking aristizzle's boot.png file and resize it to the size found in this thread (for 1024x600 displays) and would like to post it. Credits to aristizzle, of course.
-
I love this theme, I just wish I could see it more than just at boot time :D lol Thanx for sharing man!
-
Blackosx, are you going to update this theme with the new design of the iPhone 4 (please :D)?
-
I have had a quick look for some artwork to base the theme on and come across this work (http://macristocracy.com/vanilla/comments.php?DiscussionID=1126&page=1#Item_0). Is there anything else you've come across?
-
That's the same one I was going to suggest but it seems you've already found it. I think it's the best you can get ;). THANKS for your time to update the theme, still in love with it :D
-
I have made the new devices using the iPhone4.. Just testing them now.. Upload soon :)
Done.. Uploaded to the first post with new devices sized for 1920x1200 so you might need to resize them. Hope you like 'em ;D

OMG AWESOME! Extremely happy face -> XD!
Thanks so much blackosx ;), I can't believe how nice it has turned out :D.
-
You're welcome :)..
And yeah I looks great.. I now have it back as my default theme.
-
Dear BlackOSX thanks from me too! Your work makes our computer lives a little prettier
I hope some nice fella will be able to resize these for 1024x600 screen for the small netbooks, too!
Many many thanks for the hard work, guys.
-
Thank you konsti.. I am happy you are enjoying the work I have done :)
As for resizing, have you tried resizing (http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php/topic,237.0.html) it yourself?
And if you currently use this theme on your netbook then all you will need to do it just resize the new iPhone4 device icons.
-
I did read your guide, among other things dear BlackOSX, it's just that I am now at the office and can't really work on this, as you can appreciate  But despite the fact that I can quickly resize it all in Photoshop and export back the PNGs, I must carefully read the theme.plist explanations of yours. But if someone catches me up and does the 1024x600 first, I won't mind! Heck, I might even send him beers!(as attachments, of course!)
-
Yeah, I understand.. I am at work too..
Hopefully somebody will come to your aid and help you out.. ;)
But the only keys you might want to tweak in the theme.plist will be
<key>screen_width</key>
<key>screen_height</key>
<key>boot_width</key>
<key>boot_height</key>
and possibly
<key>devices_pos_y</key>
<key>devices_max_visible</key>
<key>devices_iconspacing</key>

Guys, I am uploading the modified/resized PNGs -courtesy of BlackOSX- of the new iPhone 4 theme!
If you've previously been using staticanime's resized theme for 1024x600 displays, just download this zip and replace the icons. They were resized to 199x450 as they were in the original theme by staticanime a few posts ago! Thanks again BlackOSX for your work!
-
I hope I have not overlooked this elsewhere, but I cannot find the answer to what I am looking for. I have a Samsung 27 inch DVI monitor, P2770H and for some reason, after changing everything to support the 1920 x 1080 resolution, when I boot, there is a massive black border around the boot screen, and its stretched. Is this a limitation of the monitor? or boot res? I didn't think it could be that, as I have seen themes that support this res including this one.
Any direction or help is greatly appreciated as I am lost, and have probably overlooked something...

MacTech84:
Pretty sure 1920x1080 is not a VESA standard and thus would not display properly by your graphics card.

THANK YOU! I can't believe I didn't find this, and I feel stupid! I should have known the resolution was not a VESA standard. The most this display can do is 1280x720 in the 16:9 ratio.

big thanks!

Hi guy i really love this Blackosx_iPhone theme but for the love of god i cannot understand how to resize it to work on my osx
Can someone please resize this this for me to work on 1680x1050 please i would be so greatfull ;D
Mod edit: Moved this post in to the correct topic. Please don't make a new topic for a response to an existing one.

Hi mastermark
Have you tried following the Resizing Themes guide (http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php/topic,237.0.html)?
It should be pretty easy to resize the relevant graphic files from the 1920x1200 original by 87.5% for 1680x1050.
-
Had a go and its not working out for me everythings is huge no worries mate great theme thou :-\
-
Resized the items as shown and all i get now is a error on boot
Memory allocation error Addr=0x0,Size=0x17e0bd40 file=gui.c,line 40
HELP me out please i really want this theme :(
-
Hi mastermark
Well done for trying.
Let's see if I can help you.... I have just looked through my archives here and found a 1680x1050 folder for the iphone theme which I must have used in the past. It uses the iPhone3G device icons, not the v4 device icons but if the attached theme works for you then maybe you can use the device icons here as a template for replacing the v4 device graphics.
Regards

All I have to say is:
Gorgeous

Hi Blackosx
I use your iPhone theme for a long time and fully satisfied with it. But after update to rc5 some problem arose.
With rc4, as depicted at 1st Timeout Screen[url]http://i35.tinypic.com/300r86c.jpg/url] in your guide, device_selection.png was not shown under default device icon.
Now it appeared and crossed with progress bar and countdown text. Is it possible to remove that pointer out of the timeout screen?
-
Hi Aster_5
I haven't tried using a lot of my older themes with RC5 so I've just tried it now and yes you're right, it does. Thanks for letting me know.
The easiest way I can think of, for now, to get round the problem will be to reduce the device icons size (You can use the Resizing Themes guide (http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php/topic,237.0.html) to help) and also reposition the countdown text by changing the value of <key>countdown_pos_y</key>.
But I guess with Lion coming out soon and maybe one day a solution to reliably boot it with Chameleon, then I might have to revisit some my older themes to bring then up to date.
EDIT:
Just reduced the size of my devices (as shown in the Resizing Guide) by 80% from how I would normally have them from my 1680x1050 resolution. The I changed the following in the theme.plist
<key>devices_max_visible</key>
<string>4</string>
<key>progressbar_pos_y</key>
<string>-15%</string>
<key>countdown_pos_y</key>
<string>-10%</string>
and that makes everything fit again.
This might not be a perfect solution but it works. :)
