Title: Chameleon reseting Windows 7 time and date?
Post by: Jason761 on December 22, 2010, 07:06:55 AM
I have a Core i5-760 and MSI P55A-G55. On SL the time and date does not reset. I'm not sure what caused this to happen but when i used the boot cd it never happened until i installed chameleon every reboot it resets my time. And also my restart/shutdown time is a bit slower. I installed Windows 7 on my 2 partition and chameleon and SL on my 4 partition. They are both on the same hard drive. Any ideas why?

What do you mean by "reset"? It goes back to 12:00 noon? Or the time is off by a few hours? If it's the former, I cannot help you. If it is the latter, I do know that there is a difference between how Win7 handles time and how OSX handles time. So when you boot from one to the other, the time gets offset. There are 3rd party programs that run at boot-time that can fix this, but the simplest solution I have found is to set my OSX time zone to Ireland (GMT+0), then set the time to the correct current time. That seems to work for me.

It sometimes goes back 4 hours and sometimes random. It ususally happens when i reboot.

Hi Jason,

There is an easy Windows 7 registry entry that will fix this. I came across it following a thread on Asus P6T mobo on the InsanelyMac site. I do not have it with me at the moment so I cannot post it here (sorry !!), but if you look through the site you might be able to find it. I used the reg. entries and it fixed everything, no problem. If you have no luck finding the reg. entries post back here and I will be able to upload them when I go home after Christmas.

This is not a Chameleon issue. Welcome to The Black Hole!

Another way to "fix" this, is, in OS X, to set your location to Reykjavik, Iceland, set the time manually, and disable automatic time synchronization.

If you're running Windows 7 the registry edit is the best solution.

Just don't try to manually correct the time in your BIOS, it's supposed to be wrong because it is now UTC instead of local time.

Why to Reykjavik? Something special about time in this location?
