Title: Can it just dual boot xp/7(or vista)?

Just looking at chameleon because I really want to implement a graphical bootloader.
On my gaming/media machine, I boot XP and 7.
I own a mac, and a ubuntu laptop so really have no need of installing either on the machine.

Is it possible to use chameleon without either installed on a system?

There is at least one issue with the current release that you should be aware of, Chameleon looks for it's boot file in the active partition and Windows thinks it should be the active partition so conflicts ensue. The most commonly noticed one is that Win7 won't sleep properly unless it is the active partition and there may be others that I'm not aware of. There is a fix for this in the works that should hopefully make it into the next release candidate. Also be aware that the Chameleon boot file must live in either a HFS+ or FAT32 (less common and therefore less tested) partition.

There's more to it than that.
If you perform a standard Windows 7 installation to a clean drive, you'll get a "System Reserved" partition that boots Windows 7. This partition is active and the Windows 7 partition itself is not - yet Sleep and Hibernation still works.
Someone who knows what they're doing should examine the "System Reserved" partition and find out why it works.

So, are we saying that there is no answer to the 'sleep' issue at the moment?
