Title: [Theme] Blackosx_Big_Screen_2012_Refresh
Post by: Blackosx on January 01, 2012, 09:22:47 PM
As the release of Chameleon r1738 contained code to detect that version of OS X, It's time to try to put together some themes that can support the extra devices. This is an update of my Blackosx_Big_Screen_2011_Refresh theme.

Note: Due to the unusually large files that his theme makes use of, a complete theme folder will exceed the file size restrictions for a single upload. Therefore, I have split the complete theme files in to 3 downloadable parts.

Part 1&2: Common, Background and ReadMe.
Part3: 2_Devices_to_View
Part4: 3_Devices_to_View

Enjoy

EDIT: - 21st August 2012
I've now made Mountain Lion devices - Download the separate devices from the link below and add them to your existing devices. You may need to resize them as you would have done for the other files.

I've now made Maverick devices - Download the separate devices from this external link (as I've exceeded my limit here) and add them to your existing devices. You may need to resize them as you would have done for the other files.

Thx for new ML background, but i'm still seeing the old one with mountain as background instead of the new galaxy twirl but that's maybe because i'm using Chimera instead of Chameleon. Anyways great theme man, keep up the good work :D

For the Chameleon trunk, detection for different OS X versions for the GUI was added to the trunk in rev1738 (http://forge.voodooprojects.org/p/chameleon/source/commit/1738/) and detection for Mountain Lion for use in the GUI was added in rev1990 (http://forge.voodooprojects.org/p/chameleon/source/commit/1990/).

I don't use the Chameleon branch Chimera, but providing the branch is kept in sync with the Chameleon trunk then it should support detection of different flavours of OS X in it's GUI. And to confirm, I've just looked at the gui.c (http://forge.voodooprojects.org/p/chameleon/source/tree/HEAD/branches/Chimera/Release/i386/boot2/gui.c) file in the Chimera release source folder I can see the features have not been included so unfortunately users of the Chimera branch don't get to benefit from this nice feature.

If you want to try out the latest version of the Chameleon trunk and it's themes then I recommend you create yourself a bootable USB memory stick for testing purposes to make sure everything works for your system - this way you still have your current setup intact on your HDD. Then if all is good and you want to use it full time you can look at replacing your boot file on your HDD from your installation of the Chimera branch with the boot file from Chameleon's trunk. There are plenty of guides out there to show you how - and you can do it yourself manually using the Terminal or use maybe Conti's excellent myhack, or the Chameleon package installer (though I haven't used that for a while myself).

I look forward to hearing that maybe you've tried it...  8)

Wow, thx BlackOSX, but that too compicated for me considering that i have troubles with my Mac already. Anyways, the problem is minor and it doesn't bother me that much now that i know that i have to change the Chameleon branch. Anyways great theme :D

hello,

Is it possible to have a device image to ext3 linux mint kde 13 instead of Ubuntu. I can not seem to reproduce the same image.

And I wish juset changed imaeg background, but when I take a picture my native resolution 1920x1080 image is shifted

Hi chris91
Sure. Post a screenshot of your linux mint desktop and I'll make an icon using it.

I'm not sure what you mean. Can you post the picture?

After updating Chameleon from svn 2.1 r2000 to svn. 2.1 r2187 this theme no longer highlights the main Mountain Lion drive. It'll highlight when I select Windows, but not OS X :(

Hi iRipper

Does it not?
I think I have this same theme installed for Chameleon. I'll check later when i get home and report back.

Okay. Just updated from 2183 to 2187, rebooted in to Chameleon using this theme.
I see the Mountain Lion, Lion and Windows icons all work and highlight as expected. No problems here.

Can you maybe try re-installing the theme?

Hello. Thanks for the reply. :)

But no matter what I do it won't highlight the Mac drive. I re-downloaded and resized the theme a-new, but only Windows drive gets highlighted.

I only updated Chameleon from 2000 (worked fine with this one) to 2187 and applied kernel module patch with Chameleon Wizard.

P.S. I have 2 devices to view option of the theme.

Is there a way for me to get svn2000 build, so I could rule out Chameleon forking up with my themes?  :P

Hi iRipper

Sorry I haven't yet replied to your previous post but I've been busy with other things.
For your latest question, you can download an older rev from the repo by doing the following:

Create yourself a directory where you want to download it to.
In the terminal, cd to that folder. Then run the following command, changing 2000 in this example to whatever number you want.
Code: [Select]
svn co -r 2000 http://forge.voodooprojects.org/svn/chameleon/trunk/

Thanks for the update. I'm using the 3 devices option so my comparative testing wasn't exactly the same. I'll see if I can test with the 2 device version tonight. I'll let you know as soon as I have.

i tri boot, W7, ML & W8 so would like to differentiate between between the two windows versions.

thanks in advance, john.

Nice theme but not working for me.
Get error 'couldn't open device_generic.png' , one other time it was logo.png...
Bootloader is Chimera v2.2.1 r2248
Haven't resized anything for my 1920x1080 screeen
Any clues how i get it to work?

Oh, and i shortened my folder name to BlackOSX2012 ...
