Title: 10.6 install just boots to safe mode
Post by: meszi on November 09, 2009, 03:50:56 PM
Hi there,

I was able installing 10.6 to a SATA HDD connected via USB and booting it on a PC later on. I followed the instructions of http://osx86sv.wordpress.com/2009/09/04/how-to-install-mac-os-x-snow-leopard-10-6-on-a-pc-asus-p5-series .

But I could just start in safe mode, Chameleon boot parameters were "-32 -x -v". Trying to modify the DSDT.aml (with the DSDT patcher GUI) and com.apple.Boot.plist files (because of the Nvidia 9700 graphics card) made it even worse and led to a system that also couldn't be started in safe mode anymore.

My mainboard is an Asus P5B with a Core2Duo CPU and 2GB of RAM.

I think I read something about some EHCI component not working when booting with "-32 -v".

Can anyone of you give suggestions how to have it boot normally somewhen?  ??? Is there a place where the boot process is logged?

I am going to give it a shot on some Asus P5GC with Pentium D 945 (3.2GHz) and an ATI X1550 this evening. Maybe that runs better.  :-\

CU,
Mészi.

Try arch=i386 instead of x32.

Snow Leopard works properly now that I installed it using the USB stick method also described by Simone. On my other machine I haven't been so successful but I managed toget 10.5.8 running at least. I think this suits for now. I will try learning in the forums and will get back with more detailled questions when they arise.

Thank you.  :)
