Great theme, immediately switched to it ... it looks so ... clean! ;)
I've created an icon for Ext3 devices, and updated your template.

This is my favourite Theme, but I haven't been able to properly resize it to my laptop 1280X800
How should I do it? I've used the how to, with iResizer, but still I've done a lousy job... :(

rocccky, great job! i'm using your theme now..

can i have a request though? since i only use OSX on my machine and no windows or linux, can anyone made this PNG to "device_hfsplus.png" that match this theme? or would anyone tell me how to do it the noobie way.

Thanks a lot.

here is the 512x512 png that needs resizing: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3168149/Ekisho%20Internal.zip

Great looking theme, but one problem. I'm using a 1024x768 display, and every time I try to resize the images, they become crushed horizontally. Any chance that you could possibly resize the theme for 1024x768 and use the ext3 image that censor supplied with it instead of the one supplied in the OP? It would be a tremendous help. :)

Hi Evildemon989

rocccky hasn't been here since November so I don't know when he'll next be here to help you, so I have resized it for you. I have just replaced the EXT3 icon as you wanted and reduced the icons by 70% size (It might not be the exact reduction required but it should be just fine). Hope it works for you.

Ah, thank you! I haven't had much time over the passed few weeks to get on and actually try and resize it myself. I'm also not very good with images either. :/ I can't thank you enough. The next time I get a chance I'll apply it. Thanks again!

Hi kenji1975

As this great theme doesn't use a background image, it should just work great with the graphics the size they are. All you need to do is edit the theme.plist and change the following four key/strings to match your resolution:

boot_height
boot_width
screen_height
screen_width

The theme should now work for you. But if you want to make the devices bigger then you just need to use the iResizer app that I link to in the Resizing Themes (http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php/topic,237.0.html) guide and resize the width & height for the required device images equally at I guess 133%. Then the images won't be out of proportion.

I am trying to get you to do this yourself and learn the process, as if I do it for you, then what will you do when you want to try another theme?

Alright, I have gone and tried the theme you resized for me. It looks great(The drive icons are not crush, and fit great.). I have three problems though. Firstly, the box with the rounded corners that goes around the drive you have selected has it's right edge about half the thickness that the other side has. The 1920x1200 theme has equal size. If you look at the 1024x768 device_selection.png you can see what I mean. Secondly, The countdown timer bar and text are right on top of each other. I would have taken a picture, but the screen goes from black to white in a flash, and my isight on my macbook cannot adjust fast enough. Lastly, the text for the drives is inside the device_selection.png and it should be between the box w/ rounded corners and the arrow. Picture attached.

Otherwise, great! Thanks.

Firstly, the box with the rounded corners that goes around the drive you have selected has it's right edge about half the thickness that the other side has.
That is a result of the resizing, the only way to resolve that is try to resize or correct that graphic yourself in an image editor like Photoshop or GIMP.

Secondly, The countdown timer bar and text are right on top of each other.
These are positioned by the following two key/strings in the theme.plist, try changing their values to best suit your resolution.

   <key>progressbar_pos_y</key>
   <key>countdown_pos_y</key>

Lastly, the text for the drives is inside the device_selection.png and it should be between the box w/ rounded corners and the arrow.
This is a strange one as the text is normally positioned below the devices? maybe it's because the cdrom and fat16 devices don't have the same amount of space below them as the other device icons and the booter is getting confused? I am not entirely sure as I have never used this theme myself. You could maybe try and change the value for the <key>devices_pos_y</key> key/string but I don't know if that's going to help?

Yea, it's not that big of a deal. The only way you can really tell is if you stare at it.

Hi nabeelimran

First of all, can you have a look to see if Chameleon can recognise that resolution on your system? To do that, you need to boot in to the Chameleon GUI, press the down arrow on your keyboard to bring up the menu. Then down arrow to the sixth option 'Video Info' and have a look in the resulting list to see if your desired resolution of 1920x1200 is there. If it's not, then it can't use that resolution on your hardware.

I fixed this problem by setting countdown_pos_y to -25% from -30%.

I looked and the last line read:

Mode 145: 1600x1200x8 mm: 4 attr 39f

So i guess VESA 3.0 256MB cant display 1920x1200.
Thanks again.

Double check that list to make sure that is the best option as 1600x1200 is (4:3) ratio and I guess if you originally wanted 1920x1200 which is (16:10) then you will want a widescreen option. You ideally want to use a resolution that fits your aspect ratio so if you can't have 1920x1200 then see if you can use maybe 1680x1050,1440x900 or 1280x800.

So essentially you want to find the closest match to your display's resolution that Chameleon can use with your hardware.

Hi reporter28

As this theme doesn't use a background and the devices essentially float in the screen, meaning they don't have to be positioned exactly, then you could just try changing the screen_width and screen_height key/strings in the theme.plist to match your resolution. So in this your case you can try:

   <key>screen_width</key>
   <string>1680</string>
   <key>screen_height</key>
   <string>1050</string>

You might also want to change boot_height and boot_width too.

The devices icons should ideally be resized by 87.5% equally (as show in my Resizing Themes Guide) (http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php/topic,237.0.html), but for now you can try leaving them as they are.

I also use that resolution so that should work for me too. Maybe I should actually try this theme too? Maybe I will try when I get back to my hack this evening?

EDIT: I have just tried using this theme on my system at 1680x1050 and it works just fine just by changing the four key/strings in bold above to 1680x1050.

I've tried it and icons are still crashed horizontally. How can I check, what's the resolution when Chameleon starts?
Coz maybe it's not 1680x1050 and that's why I can't make it work.

How can I check, what's the resolution when Chameleon starts?
Unfortunately there's no definite feedback by Chameleon to tell us what resolution it's using. Maybe I can ask the devs to somehow include something?

I have just knocked this up for you.
It's a 1680x1050 image with some arrows pointing to the corners of the screen, a square and three circles. Rename it to background.png and put it in your current theme folder (maybe rename the existing background file to save overwriting it). Reboot using this and see if the circles and square look equal and not squashed. If they look good then you are using 1680x1050.

Okay, so we now know that Chameleon is not using 1680x1050.

Find out what resolutions are available to Chameleon. To do that, you need to boot in to the Chameleon GUI, press the down arrow on your keyboard to bring up the menu. Then down arrow to the sixth option 'Video Info' and have a look in the resulting list to see if your desired resolution is there.

If it's not, then it can't use that resolution on your hardware then you need to find the next best option whilst keeping with a resolution that's also in keeping with your screens aspect ratio. In my Resizing Themes guide (http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php/topic,237.0.html), I have linked to an image from wikipaedia to help identify resolutions.

EDIT: I am guessing Chameleon is using 1366x768 on your system.....

In that case yes 1280x1024 32bit is best, unless you can find a widescreen resolution to use as I think you have said you original wanted 1920x1200.

Out of interest, how have you got your display connected? because if you are using VGA in any shape or form then might get different resolutions by switching to DVI-DVI, or maybe even try a different a secondary output from your video card?

You might be able to enter one of the other resolutions which appear under 8 and 16bit in the theme.plist but I don't know if Chameleon will use them as I have never tried..

Yes that the Apple logo and spinner are squahsed and if your boot_height & boot_width values are set correctly then I don't know.
Can you try setting the values to the resolution you use in the Finder when using your system? So is that 1680x1050?

Yes, it's 1680x1050. Now I have tried to resize icons to 4:3 proportions. In theme.plist I put 1400x1050. And after that I got sthg like this:

I think, an apple looks ok now, but circle is still not a circle.
%$&#%$%#$@! I'm gettin' mad with Chameleon ;-)

My config if it's gonna help:
iDeneb v1.6 Chameleon 2.0 RC3

GF 6600 256 MB

Yes, the Apple logo now looks correct, but I agree then spinner is still squashed. I don't think there's anything you can do about that as it's drawn by the kernel and short of trying to get a different resolution on that screen, I am out of ideas for now.

Similarly to what I asked nabeelimran, how have you got your display connected? because if you are using VGA in any shape or form then might get different resolutions by switching to DVI-DVI, or maybe even try a different a secondary output from your video card?

Update:
The problem was auto wide image when it's connected via DVI. So I changed it to DVI-VGA and now I have a right resolution but with 2 black resctangles on sides. I'm gonna leave it like that.

I see now.. Strange?  After our discussion the other week I have since installed this theme and it works very well for me with no issues, though I didn't resize it. Which makes me think it must be a resizing issue.

Can you try it without resizing it? I know the device icons will appear large but you're only using three volumes so might still fit on your screen...

I can try. At least I'll still have the countdown timer to boot in OSX if something goes wrong!

Hi,
I like the clean feel to this theme but wanted the boot.png to show that OSX runs on my Acer Aspire 5630 laptop. So here's the Acer boot.png I put together.
Its 181 x 219 and should look ok on netbooks, my laptop screen is running at 1280 x 800.

Cheers, Freemag.

I like this theme, it's my favorite - nice and simple. Only thing i dislike are HDD icons, so i've created my own.

Each icon is OS specific with official wallpaper applied over.

Here is my boot menu screenie:

All available icons:

All icons are available in PNG and ready to go.
Also i'm giving PSD file so you can create additional icons if you want.

Hi Everyone,

Im having a problem with my install boot theme\picture. It seems i can modify themes in my system, but after the theme has finished the startup returns to no background with the OS startup lines running untill it gets to desktop.

How can i make it too boot in that slick-clean osx?

please reference me to a guide on that subject.

thanx...

For applying themes, I am going to point you to here (http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php/topic,1408.msg6703.html#msg6703) where EnzoFX has aleady posted an answer. If you have any further questions about this then please continue the discussion in that thread.

Is anyone else getting the "File deleted" error when trying to download Psydon's icons? They're amazing, though I don't believe the download link is still active.

Yep, speedyshare deleted them.

But you can get them here:

Psydon, Love the icons. I cannot seem to find a way to place the windows icon on my windows NTFS drives in OS X, says they are read only with no way to change to read and write. The icon for OS X was not a problem.

Any ideas?

Can someone please make me a version for my 1920x1080 display? I've already tried to change all four lines regarding resolution in the configuration plist to match my resolution but it is still starting at 1920x1200, causing it to be squashed vertically. Please help me. Thanks!

Pretty sure 1920x1080 is not a VESA standard and thus would not display properly by your graphics card.

I've successfully resized it to fit my 16:9 monitor which VESA only displays up to 1280x1024. However, now the device names are overlapping on top of the hard drive icons. How can I move them down?

Well soon I will be getting a 1080p monitor and I am just wondering if someone could resize it to 1080? Before when we resized it to 4:3 the only problem we had was the name overlapping the icon. Does it do the same with 1080 from 1920x1200?

Hi,

I have a screen with 1920x1200.
But I am pretty sure that at boot hasn't got this resolution, and I have a streched image at boot, and looks pretty bad.
I see in video info at boot, that I haven't got any 16:10 video mode resolution, all 4:3 and 5:4, till the maximum of 1920x1440, so is pretty big. Is VESA 3.0 16Mb for ATI.

Someone could help me to correct the aspect ratio?

Cheers.

EDIT: I could correct that, but resizing the images. Now I have a problem with the fonts and with the progress circle.

Thanks a lot :)

What is the font that you use?
I like it.
Please, send me, or tell me the way to do it.
Cheers.

Hi ed_co

rocccky doesn't seem to be around anymore to support his lovely theme, therefore any questions here I try to answer the best I can.

I have a screen with 1920x1200.
But I am pretty sure that at boot hasn't got this resolution, and I have a streched image at boot, and looks pretty bad.
You can find more information about what resolution Chameleon is using for your display at this topic:
http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php/topic,1181.0.html

EDIT: I could correct that, but resizing the images. Now I have a problem with the fonts and with the progress circle.
See if the link above helps with your resolution issue, but if you can't get native resolution then select the next best available and have a go at resizing the theme to fit.

What is the font that you use?
Like rocccky, Topengski hasn't been around for a long time either so unfortunately we have no quick way of finding out which font was used. So it's going to be down to some trial and error testing.

This Theme Is The Bomb!!! But I Have A Screen Res Of 1024 - 640 ( 10 Inch Screen If Im Wrong ) And Have Tried To Resize It But When It Boots The Partition Image Overlaps The Text & Loading Bar, So Could Somebody Change It To 1024 - 640 Or Fix The Problem Somehow?

Edit - Ok I Found Out How To Make The Menu Appear Automatically But The Pics Are Still Massive!Even After Resizing, So Could It Be Made 1024 - 640? Thx For The Theme Again!!!
I Am Also Intrested To Find Out What Font Was Used In Topengski's Pic  :)

Thx Again!

Seconded. I have an HP Probook 4530s with Chimera installed, and changing resolutions in the plist doesnt have any effect. Also I have countdown timer enabled to automatically boot into Windows, and the bar is on top of the "press any key" wording. Any ideas on how to fix that?
