Title: Boot Camp for Widescreens
Post by: solarein on December 11, 2012, 09:26:29 PM
I made some modifications to the Boot Camp theme by Nebkiwi here to adapt it to my 16:9 screen, and I thought I'd share it here in case anyone finds it useful. It's used if your video card only has 4:3 VESA resolutions but you have a 16:9 screen. The images and fonts are squished to counter the stretching during use. In addition I made a few improvements to the theme, including changed the color scheme and font to better match Apple's Boot Camp, improved the device icons, and switched the menu icons to those from Enzo's LoginToLion theme.

Also included is a matching BIOS splash image that you can use to customize the BIOS boot logo from certain manufacturers. The text matches that used by Asus motherboards, but I don't know if they make any sense for other manufacturers.

So sick of cards only doing 4x3. Horrible backwards trend. Glad the icons were of use heh. I thought about releasing editable ones alone so people can quickly use them in themes.

That would be great. The graphics in your theme are generally superb.

Funny enough, my card (EVGA GeForce GTX 570) does have one and only one widescreen resolution on its list: 1280x800. Unfortunately it's 16:10 whereas my monitor is 16:9, so there's still a bit of stretching going on. And it also looks much less sharp than the highest 4:3 VESA resolution it has, 1600x1200, on my 2560x1440 monitor. So I decided to use 1600x1200 with squished graphics, which turns out to be much better looking than when I tried it with 1280x800.

Proposal for new disk layout:
In color and black & white.
I haven't resized them yet, so little patience.

Or, if someone wants to play, here is psd template.

Edit: drives are done, just replace the originals.
Rename colored drives, just remove ''-c'' first.

Hi and thx for the theme, it works like magic on my Asus P5Q motherboard with GTX460, even the colours match with my Apple loading screen. Thx again for putting effort in it ;)
