Title: [NOT fixed] Stuck keys, no touchpad
Post by: Acid7711 on April 11, 2009, 02:50:04 PM
First off, I can't thank you guys enough for developing this! I would love to get this to work!  I'm looking very forward to finally having a workable scrolling ability!

Unfortunately, when I install this, no matter what options I choose to install with, upon reboot the mouse pad (laptop trackpad) does not work. External USB mouse works (and external usb keyboard but it gives same stuck key syndrome as with build in keyboard). The problem however is that it acts like I have a stuck key.

Booting with verbose mode enabled shows TONS of @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@‘s being loaded and typed. I can’t type anything into anything on the screen or I get something like a stuck key syndrome.  It appears to repeat 7,7,7,7,7,7,7,7,7,7,7,7 over and over again.

I noticed that it gives red errors loading the appleps2controller.kext on verbose mode when the voodoops2controller kext is loaded as well.  Maybe this is on purpose.

I really hope I can get this sorted out! I'm very excited to see this being worked on!!

Thanks for any help you guys can offer :)

Delete both appleps2controller.kext and acpips2nub

Deleting the files did not fix the non-stop beeping, trackpad and keyboard that do not work, and every second (or so) startup fails with a kernel panic. All of this started with the installation of voodoops2controller.

same for me here. Inspiron 1420. ALPS touchpad. I removed ApplePS2Controller.

The keyboard is dead and it always prints 77777777777. In verbose mode there are @@@@@@@@@.

Before VoodooPS2Controller, i also had issues with this 777777777s being printed. Sometimes happened that the 7 key was stuck, but it was the PS2 controller, not the keyboard. Until i pressed any key or button in the touchpad, the 7 key kept stuck. This happened whenever i was typing and i accidentaly touched the touchpad

Works Grate for me. Thank you all Developers for that wonderful scrolling. Using Aspire One.

I'm having the same problems with an Acer Extensa 4620-4648 and I went to single-user mode and deleted the ApplePS2Controller.kext, too.

It's really annoying me because it was working perfectly before I decided to try VoodooPS2Controller but I just decided to try it because of the scrolling...

Please help.

Tried that and all it does is make it so that my keyboard works, but my touchpad doesn't work at all. When I go to the Preference pane that was installed by the setup, I get a message saying  "ApplePS2SynapticsTouchPad not found" even though I'm 100% sure that my laptop's touchpad IS a Synaptic one.

Thanks!

I too tried to, but with other results.  Upon booting verbose mode, I'm still getting the @@@@@@@@@@'s like there's a stuck key.  Additionally, kernel panics. :(

BTW, this is on a Toshiba A135-477, iAtkOs v5i

You probably have another ps2-related kext lost in your system. vps2c likes to be alone

I do remember selecting something related to an ACPI PS2 in the iAtkOs install.  But I'm not sure what the file is. : /

Straight from their website:

"You can choose x86 modified ACPI driver for PS2 mouse/keyboard and also PS2 driver can sure manage that but it is not a good choice for upgradable systems."

"For upgradable systems, I advice you to use x86 ACPI driver instead of this."

That is what I choose.  The x86 ACPI driver.  I did not install the ACPIPS2Nub.kext.

So I replaced the appleacpiplatform with a stock version I think.  Removed the appleps2controller kext, and as soon as I installed voodoo I got immediate 77777777777777777 again.  I rebooted, and kernel panic yet again :/

Well. I decided to get it a try, I installed iPcOsx 10.5.6 onto the Laptop.  I selected no Ps2 drivers of any sort during the install.

I installed the Voodoops2controller, just as before.  I don't get kernel panics any more, however I still have no mouse.  Same issue with the keyboard as well. :(
Title: Re: Stuck keys, no touchpad

Yeah, i booted into single-user mode and did a
Code: [Select]
rm -rf /System/Library/extensions/*PS2*.kext but when I boot up and reinstall the VoodooPS2Controller and reboot, I have the same problems... I'm currently running with the VoodoPS2Controller.kext removed as well because that way I can at least use an external mouse and keyboard without 7's appearing whenever 'm tying to type...
Title: Re: Stuck keys, no touchpad
Post by: mackerintel on April 12, 2009, 01:52:30 PM
look at kextstat to see what is loaded. Do you use a modded kernel? Could you try with vanilla or voodoo kernel?
Title: Re: Stuck keys, no touchpad
Post by: amgupt01 on April 12, 2009, 02:09:57 PM
I'm currently using Vanilla...
When I run the kextstat command in the terminal, I see a "org.tgwbd.driver.ACPIPS2Nub" but I don't know where it is located because it is definitely not in the /System/Library/Extensions folder...
Title: Re: Stuck keys, no touchpad
Post by: Shoesy on April 12, 2009, 03:27:41 PM
I had all these problems - solved by deleting all the PS2 related files and repairing permissions, my extra kext was called 'AppleCPIPS2Nub.kext' or something (I made it go away now mmmm fraid!)

Ended up with three preference panes for trackpad tho, deleted keyboard.pref and replaced with 10.5.6 version (I was previously using saved 10.5.5)... Left with two now - 'trackpad' (default apple settings) and voodooPS2 (voodoo settings). They seem to both function, but it is a little confusing what to set where.

A couple of niggles with it but will post these separately...

On the whole- thanks a lot voodoo guys - two finger scrolling works! yay!

Inside AppleACPIPlatform.kext? Or in your Extra?

Inside AppleACPIPlatform.kext? Or in your Extra?
Haha, whoops.  I didn't know that kexts could be within kexts!  I found it inside AppleACPIPlatform.kext. I deleted it and I'll install VoodooPS2Controller and reboot and post my results here again.

EDIT: YAY! It works perfectly! Once I rebooted after deleting the ACPIPS2Nub.kext, all of the PS2 stuff worked perfectly again! The Multifinger scrolling is WAAY more stable than with FFScroll and is much smoother!
Thanks!

I installed stock ACPI, removed all PS2 drivers and installed voodoops2controller package with trackpad. Keyboard worked, usb mouse too, but trackpad went crazy (i think there are some strange values so speed is really weird). I removed voodoops2controller.kext and installed from package without trackpad. I got keyboard and trackpad with tapping but not scrolling. So i think the trackpad plugin kext from voodoops2controller didn't worked for me (ALPS on an inspiron 1420).

Not fixed for me....

"acids-macbook-air:~ acid$ kextstat | grep PS2
   65    2 0x3449e000 0x5000     0x4000     com.apple.driver.ApplePS2Controller (1.1.0) <12>
   80    0 0x2e1f9000 0x3000     0x2000     com.apple.driver.ApplePS2Keyboard (1.1.0) <65 24 12>
   81    0 0x346d3000 0x5000     0x4000     com.apple.driver.ApplePS2Trackpad (1.1.0) <65 24 12>
"

Those files are inside ApplePS2Controller which I had to revert back to using.  There is no Nub of any sort anywhere. Stock ACPI I believe, and Voodoo kernel.

I'm having the same problem!!

I removed all the ps2 controller (appleps2controller, voodoops2controller, acpips2nub).
When I enter in terminal kextstat, there's nothing related to PS2.

- Does the hidden one (appleacpi) appears in the kextstat list??

- How do I remove it? I don't know the path to this hidden kext.

What I tried:
- booted with -s and deleted all ps2 related kext on the kextstat list.
- Rebooted, and fixed the permissions with osxtools.
- Rebooted, and tried the voodoo installer again >>> SAME PROBLEM, STUCK KEYS!  :'(

Please help me. I at least borrowed an USB keyboard from a friend. Thou, I can config without any problem.
But I really need this ps2 controller, cause I'm from Brazil, and with this voodoo controller, I can configure correctly my keyboard layout. WIth appleps2controller, \ and / keys remain dead.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Sorry if I made any dumb question, but I'm new on Mac.  ;D

By doing kexstat after having removed everything do you still have ACPIPS2Nub ?

Maybe it is inside /System/Library/Extensions/AppleACPIPlatform.kext/Contents/PlugIns/

Maybe it is inside your Extra folder (on the hidden Efi partition) if you use it.

kextstat after removing everything lists NO ACPIPS2Nub (and no voodoops2 and appleps2). There's anything more to remove?

But I dunno why, after that, when I run the package of voodoops2controller, it installs nicely, but still gives me stuck keys. Any idea?

Thanks one more time!

Rebooted, reinstall voodoo, and.... STUCK KEYSS!!! lol

Did u tried without installing trackpad? Inside voodoops2controller there are 3 kexts. Delete the trackpad one, just keep the mouse and keyboard one. I had the same issue, it was the trackpad driver. Does it works without trackpad kext?

bump.
I still got the sticky keys when trying to use it. Deleted all the PS2-related kexts from both /System/Library/Extensions and /Extra/Extensions.
I'd really like to see scrolling working on my Synaptics trackpad.
Any workarounds available?
Title: Re: [NOT fixed] Stuck keys, no touchpad
Post by: lebidou on April 26, 2009, 03:55:02 PM
For the Sticky keys try this :
Get an Original ApplePS2Controller.kext.
Extract the ApplePS2Keyboard.kext plugin from it.
Edit ApplePS2Keyboard.kext/Contents/Info.plist : replace <key>com.apple.driver.ApplePS2Controller</key> by <key>org.voodoo.driver.PS2Controller</key> in Bundle dependencies.
Copy the Modified ApplePS2Keyboard.kext in /System/Library/Extensions/VoodooPS2Controller.kext/Contents/PlugIns/
Remove VoodooPS2Keyboard.kext from this same folder.
Correct Permissions, Clear Caches, Reboot, Hope it works.

Another nicer solution have been found at post #38 (http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php/topic,80.msg1155.html#msg1155)

Title: Re: [NOT fixed] Stuck keys, no touchpad
Post by: lebidou on April 28, 2009, 12:46:39 AM
Yes it was.
But I just had the confirmation it can't work all the time. I made a HUGE mistake when installing a kext today and erased my extension folder completly. I thankfully got an iPC live DVD lying around and copied all the kext back to my HD and applied all the patches as I'm used to (I'm not a boot-132 user). But, for some reason an instance of AppleACPIPS2Nub seems to load even if I can't find where it comes from (not from AppleACPIPlatform.kext, I don't have an Extra folder) and I got stuck keys as you guys, even with that trick. So I tried something else that seems to work (for me, with iPC extensions):
Let AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext load, install the original ApplePS2Controller.kext, remove VoodooPS2Controller.kext, replace ApplePS2Trackpad.kext by VoodooPS2Trackpad.kext, edit the plist as I told before, replacing org.voodoo.driver.PS2Controller by com.apple.driver.ApplePS2Controller
See solution below.
You'll get a working Keyboard and double finger scroll.

However, it seems to be iPC related (I had no problem with an updated Kalyway), it would be interesting to know if the people who get the problem are running an iPC install or something else.

I really thought it!
I almost started a pool to know the distro of those who have stuck keys!

Mine is, also, iPC.
I've downloaded an iDeneb version, but didn't installed it yet.

But, I'll try the modification you wrote.

Thanks!

I did a fresh install of iPC on my Wind U100 with no keyboard fix and the VoodooPS2Controller is working well. Two finger scrolling works nicely (three is better?). I also tried it with iDeneb but it seems to install some trackpad support by default. I got kernel panics but maybe I did not find the right kexts to remove.

We may have a final solution! The problem came from a modified AppleACPIPlatform.kext that came with iPC and maybe some other "distros" with an ACPIfix; the main problem was it still loaded an instance of AppleACPIPS2Nub class even without the AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext. I got my hand on kexts from a Boot 132 boot cd and it work well with it.

Here is the kexts : ACPI_Fix.zip (http://www.gael-philippe.fr/ACPI_Fix.zip)
It contains AppleACPIPlatform.kext v1.2.4, Vanilla AppleAPIC.kext 1.4 and IOACPIFamily.kext 1.2.0

I hope we finally got it! And thanx to gustavolessa who noticed this.

Btw, I got a keyboard layout with all keys working!! I use ABNT2 keyboard (Brazilian)!

Hello, the fix did not work for me.
I still got a stuck keys problem. Randomly (sometimes after a minute or so and sometimes after half an hour) I get a stuck key. It's always the number 5. Don't know why always number 5, but it's very annoying!!

Can anyone help me?!

This isn't a keyboard related error, however you might find a solution for this on other forums like insanelymac. Could you attach a system.log, a dmesg, and the list of what you have in your Extra folder ?

My problem with the stuck keys seems (after two weeks of googling) to be solved. In the official apple forums a few posts say that "Parallels desktop" might be quilty of causing it (e.g. look for "Tiger" and "stuck key").
And, indeed, after deinstallation of Parallels the problem seems to not appear again. Now I will try VMware Fusion (according to the apple forum Fusion do not cause the stuck key problem)

We may have a final solution! The problem came from a modified AppleACPIPlatform.kext that came with iPC (...)
Here is the kexts : ACPI_Fix.zip (http://www.gael-philippe.fr/ACPI_Fix.zip) (...)
And thanx to gustavolessa who noticed this.
Thanks a lot! It really works :)
And also thanks for Voodoo developers for really great driver!

My specs:

HP 2510p Laptop with iDeneb distro 10.5.6, updated with iDeneb combo update to 10.5.8 (not using EFI)
I believe this laptop has a Synaptics v6.3 PS/2 touchpad on port 3.

I have attempted all advice that i can find on this forum to get scrolling on my touchpad without any luck. At first, i was getting kernel panics because AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext was not completely removed.

I have since replaced the kexts with the ones found in ACPI_Fix.zip and AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext no longer appears in kextstat.

The keyboard works, however the touchpad does not respond at all. I get an error message "ApplePS2SynapticsTouchpad not found" when trying to access VoodooPS2 Pref pane with a USB mouse, and crashes when i try to modify any settings.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, i have spent the last week trying to get the scroll to work and its quite frustrating.

Thanks.

I'm also using iDeneb with combo update to 10.5.8. All I had to do was install VoodooPS2Controller-0.98-installer.pkg, which I downloaded from here: http://chameleon.osx86.hu/file_download/25/VoodooPS2Controller-0.98-installer.pkg. And after I rebooted, both my keyboard and touchpad work AND my touchpad has 2 finger scrolling.
