Hi guys,
kind of newbie here. I have a 10.6.3 installation perfectly working on a p5q pro turbo mobo, 3 hdd and a dvd drive. Now I've just received a new hd, and wanted to install it. But as soon as I plug it into the 5th sata channel, and turn on the pc, chameleon doesn't start at all, giving out errors. If I take it off, everything comes back normal. This looks strange to me, do u have any ideas?
Thanks a lot,
Andrea

Hi,
What is your installed Chameleon version? What exact error messages do you get?
-
Hey zef,
chameleon is 2.0 RC 3, and the error is:
Ebios read error
Error 0x04
Block 0xd382a717 Sectors 0
Thanks a lot

anybody, any suggestion?
-
Can you give a try with the latest boot file attached in this post?
-
Hey Zef,
thanks a lot. Just to be sure: how do I install it?
-
just copy the new files over your current ones
this will replace your current setup, a backup is each user's job
backup religiously, avoid headaches
-
thank you rocksteady,
my question is: the r-139 version that zef gave me is a folder, with many files... do I need all of them or just the file named boot, that replaces the old one? If so, where should I put all the others?
Thanks a lot

3rd time is the charm!
Replace your 'boot' with the one in the archive.
-
alright, still no way, even with the new boot, same error...

According to the error message you get, this HDD should be at least 1.5TB+ large. Can you post your partition table please?
-
this is a 500 GB hdd, and unfortunately I cannot post his partition table because I cannot connect it...

I'm pretty sure that disk has a bogus partition table or filesystem since sector 0xd382a717 points to the ~1.7TB area.
I think you can pass Chameleon's error messages repeating them for a few times then you should get to the boot prompt.
-
alright I'll try that... thanks for now, will keep u up to date.

Hey Zef,
thanks a lot for your hint. So I tried, but there was no way to get to the prompt. So I just booted through an ubuntu live, checked out the partition table and in fact there was some strange mistake, as u said. Just erased all partitions and chamaleon booted fine.
thank you very much.
