10.5.6 update safe?
« on: April 23, 2009, 02:45:00 PM »
I have to update to 10.5.6 on a new install (long story, but i had to use a 10.5.5 disc) and netkas' guide says not to use chameleon. Does 2.0RC1 work with the 10.5.6 update or should i install pc-efi9, update, then install chameleon 2.0?

It's been working fine for me.  I think the reason 10.5.6 wasn't recommended is because of all the issues it's been having (on real Macs, as well as pcs)  Also, depending on your video card (if you have certain nvidia cards) you may need to update your disabler.kext to fix some mouse lag.

I had 10.5.6 with PC_EFI v9 running, then installed Chameleon v2 over the top. It worked perfectly for me.

I dont think i worded that correctly...
What im wondering is if its ok to install Chameleon 2.0 then the 10.5.6 update. I have the older chameleon on here now, and netkas says that will not work for the 10.5.6 install and you have to have boot-123 or pc-efi9 to install the update because of the ddst or something. So i have to install a new bootloader anyway, im just curious if i should go with Chameleon 2.0 first, or pc-efi9 then update then chameleon 2.0.

No, the dsdt fix was not needed with the final version of 10.5.6.  The problem was related to non dsdt patched machines when trying to boot the pre-release 10.5.6 update.

You can use Chameleon 1.x OR Chameleon 2.0RC1 to boot 10.5.6 without any problems.
